My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Shrines and Collections in our Church
Please check that coins used in the shrines and collections are euro -easily happens if people return from foreign holidays. If non euro coins are used, the coin counting machine cannot deal with them and breaks down. Thank you for your ongoing generosity.
Annual Charity Tax Refund Scheme

Leaving Certificate Results
We send our best wishes and prayers to all the students who received their results on Friday and who are taking the next step towards their future. We hope you receive your course of choice in the CAO – if not there are many other options available which can often work out for the best.
Weekly Reflection on the Scriptures

From ‘Walking with Families in Hope’
As our children return to school, we send them our best wishes. Let us pray for God’s blessing on them for this new school year, that they may continue to walk safely in God’s ways.
- As you carry your bag, may you know that Jesus is walking with you, always looking after you.
- May you keep safe in all you do, may you be more aware of others too.
- May you know the warmth of God’s protecting presence in all you say and do.
- May the Lord help you at school, to grow in every way.

Reflection on Today’s Liturgy
Say to all faint hearts, ‘Courage, do not be afraid. Look, your God is coming to save you!’
God’s word is always calling out to us inviting us to ways of seeing more keenly and hearing more deeply.
Isaiah calls us to see what needs to be seen, to hear properly, to move lithely and with purpose, and to speak honestly and with joy. In the Second Reading and Gospel, we are left in no doubt about those whom God chooses.
The Lord is making an appeal to us – to notice, to be moved and to imitate. Let’s pray, this week, that we ourselves might be opened to the wonders of the Lord and to his challenges as we try to resist being closed to the plight of those whom God raises to first place.
Confirmation and First Holy Communion
We send our congratulations and best wishes to the North Bay children who received the sacrament of Confirmation yesterday. Next Saturday, 11th, the children from Scoil Eoin will receive the sacrament. We ask that everyone keep these children in their prayers.
The Cry of the Earth, The Cry of the Poor
This Autumn there will be two vital UN conferences -COP15 on Biodiversity and COP26 on Climate Change. We need world leaders to take urgent action on global warming. Archbishop Dermot Farrell has published a pastoral letter entitled The Cry of the Earth, The Cry of the Poor. An excerpt says: One possible next step for communities and parishes is to consider signing the ‘Healthy Planet — Healthy People’ petition. The cry of the earth and the cry of the poor go hand in hand. For the Holy See, the petition is a key advocacy action for this year’s Season of Creation. Communities, people in parishes and dioceses, as well as religious congregations are encouraged to sign the petition by going to www.healthyplanetandpeople.org.

| The liturgy at this time includes the incident where Jesus heals the deaf and dumb man, using his own saliva and the Aramaic word, ephphatha – ‘be opened!’ When Jesus’ original Aramaic words are used in the Gospels, the Evangelists deliberately emphasise the power of Christ’s original utterance, to underscore the intimacy of the moment and the personal relationship of Jesus with the one with whom He is communicating. When we are spiritually and emotionally paralysed, unable to receive God’s love and cut off from the spiritual energies within our souls, we need to allow Christ to whisper into our depths – ephphatha! 40 Days of Prayer Course
Bayside Alpha is running a free 7-week Zoom course on prayer starting on Wednesday, 22nd September, at 7.30pm. Five Simple Rules to be Happy
One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn’t worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realised what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone’s amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit him, the donkey was doing something amazing. He shook it off and took a step up.
As the farmer’s neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
MORAL: Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
- Free your heart from hatred – Forgive.
- Free your mind from worries – Most never happen.
- Live simply and appreciate what you have.
- Give more.
- Expect less from people but more from yourself.

Dear Lord, Please go before us today and in the new week that’s ahead. Help us to soar like eagles and to rise above any storms or problems we may encounter.
Help us to remember to wait on you, so you can renew our strength. Help us to release the things we can’t control into your hands and to live in the fullness of your joy this week. We ask these things in Jesus’ name.
