Safeguarding Sunday 24th September 2023
But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” (Luke 18:16)
This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the formation of the diocesan Child Safeguarding & Protection Service and consequently the theme of the occasion is very much “reflection”. We reflect on the journey that all of us have been on over the last twenty years, especially the victims of abuse in our Church. It is also a time to reflect on the ongoing commitment by all in our parishes to ensure the safety of children and vulnerable adults. A lot has been achieved; however, this work is never done. The safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults in our diocese is central to the Gospel values that we embrace daily.

Reflection on Sunday’s Readings
The readings this Sunday remind us that when we seek the Lord, we can be confident of receiving a warm, forgiving welcome – no matter who we are.
The prophet Isaiah (First Reading) invites us to seek and find the Lord who is near to us. When we do this, God will embrace us with a rich forgiveness.
The Psalm is a blessing song of wonder and awe to the Lord who is close to us, full of compassion, abounding in love and kindness.
St Paul’s letter to the Philippians (Second Reading) is written by one who is confident of the closeness of Christ. We, too, are encouraged to focus our lives on the Gospel values of Christ.
The parable of the workers in the vineyard (Gospel) presents an encouraging, if challenging, image of the generosity of God. We are invited to accept this generosity for ourselves and express it towards others. If this seems hard for us to comprehend, we take heart that the ways of the Lord are different from our ways.
Our God is full of compassion and forgiveness, willing us to seek him out. We pray that the Christian community will be inspired to seek the Lord. Together as the body of Christ, we can transform the world with the justice and generosity of God.
Sacraments 2024
Registration is now open for any child wishing to receive the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation in our Parish in 2024. Details are on our Parish website kilbarrackfoxfieldparish.ie

Notice was given to our Parish School and Faith Formation representative.
The first preparation Mass will take place on Sunday 15th October at 12pm and we look forward to meeting with you all then.

Ministers of the Word – Recent Readers’ Evening
We extend a big ‘thank you’ to all who attended the presentation by Rosemary Lavelle, last Monday, in our Parish Centre.
There was a very positive feeling and plenty of discussion throughout the evening. Rosemary made a number of recommendations including the importance of advance preparation by the reader and the value of being part of the reflection group.
Everyone is invited to participate in an online Reflection on the Scripture each Monday evening from 7.30-8-30pm to help to make the proclamation of the word more meaningful.

Four Seasons Quarterly Collection
Our Quarterly Collection for ongoing Church Projects will be on next weekend 30th/1st October. To date we have a new heating system installed in time for the winter ahead; the guttering and Church porch apex have been repaired and painted; new cameras installed overlooking the car park and inside the Church with a CCTV recording system. The next challenge is to repair and resurface the carpark, hopefully before the end of the year. We thank you all for your continued support and donations.
New Pilgrim Path Laudato Si
The prayer, “Nada te Turbe” – “Let nothing disturb you”- was found in the breviary of the Spanish mystic and saint, Teresa de Ávila, written in her own hand. Her words have consoled countless numbers of people and set to music by the Taizé community, for whom chanting is one of the most essential elements of worship. “As the words are sung over many times, their reality gradually penetrates the whole being. Sow Seeds Wherever You Go

Beauty in Broken Things

Most People are Good
