Share Appeal Sunday
Takes place this weekend November 11/12, highlighting the important work that is funded by the weekly collection. A letter from Archbishop Dermot Farrell along with Share Newsletter are available on the back table of our Church for everyone to take.
Dear Heavenly Father, we bring this situation before you and ask for a swift end to violence. Our hearts are breaking for the children and families in Gaza and Israel who have and continue to experience the unspeakable horror of attacks and war all around them. We pray for peace and ask that you will guide the hearts and minds of those in leadership. We especially pray for those children who have been physically and emotionally injured, and for those who have lost loved ones, that you will provide the right people with the right resources to help them, and that you will protect each person. Lord, we ask for your wisdom for all those involved and for the wider international community. Amen

Reflection on Sunday’s Readings‘
He is here!’
We are encouraged to remain alert to the presence of the Lord, who comes to us in every moment, and to be ready to welcome his second coming.
The First Reading describes how the spirit of Wisdom is eager to enter into our lives. She is always close by, waiting for us to greet her, so that she may richly bless our lives.
Today’s Psalm – The love of the Lord is better than life itself, and those who seek the Lord will be filled forever, as with a banquet.
In the Second Reading, the Christian community is reassured that our hope in the resurrection is not in vain. The longing and desire that we feel for God will be fulfilled both in life and in death.
In the Gospel Jesus uses a parable to stress the importance of remaining prepared and hopeful for the coming of the Lord into our lives. We are all invited to the banquet of the Lord, but we can take the abundant richness that our faith can bring, for granted. God is here with us now, but sometimes we may not be ready or do not see his presence amongst us.
We pray for a spirit of hopeful, joyful longing for the Lord, so that we may be fully ready to greet him when he comes into our life, and we continue to pray for peace and justice across our suffering world.
Outdoor Collections
The outdoor collection for the St Vincent de Paul Society will take place next weekend 18th/19th November. The collection for the Little Sisters of the Poor, Sybil Hill, will take place on weekend 25th/26th November.
Naomh Barróg Annual Mass for Deceased Members
The Naomh Barróg Annual Mass for deceased members will be celebrated in the clubhouse at 7.30pm, Saturday, 18th November. Families and friends of deceased members are especially welcome. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.
St Fintan’s Cemetery News
Plots in St Fintan’s Cemetery, Sutton, will not be available for purchase after 31st December 2023.
(N.B. plots cannot be purchased in advance)
Existing plots can be opened for burials and for ashes to be interred.
‘The Bayside Trilogy: Part 1’
The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Adrian Henchy, will launch this film on Saturday, 18th November at 3pm in the Bayside Community Centre. It is a visual storytelling tool which captures the history of Bayside since its foundation in 1967 through the eyes of its first residents. These stories offer us a glimpse into the changing landscape of this small Dublin suburb over the past 50+ years; from the development of the townland to the establishment of a tight, eclectic community. Everyone is welcome.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place from 11am-3pm, Tuesday to Friday.
Charity Tax Forms
Thank you to everyone who returned their Charity Tax Forms to the Parish Office. Janice will be sending in the claims for 2021 on or before the end of November. If you still wish to submit your form, please send/drop it into the Parish Office. If mislaid, a new one is available in the office. This refund we receive plays a vital role in the upkeep of our Church and we thank everyone who has and will participate in this scheme.

A question that’s often asked is – what happens to our loved ones when they die? We know a lot more than we may realise. A fascinating book by the late Colm Keane is called ‘Heading For The Light’, which included 100 interviews with people whose lives briefly ended following cardiac arrests, traffic accidents, complications during childbirth etc.
It is our heartfelt belief that our loved ones are now at peace and in eternal light and love. During these days of November, we remember with love our own nearest and dearest who have died. We miss them in lots of different ways and trying to put this into words is never easy. Some of these words might be: we still miss you, thank you for so many memories, you are remembered with love today, you will never be forgotten and may you rest in peace. Amen
Don’t Let the Cold World Change You
There is a rare breed of people who go all in. They keep their word. They give it their all. They put themselves last for those they care about. These individuals rarely receive the same compassion in return yet continue to give freely. To the givers, forgivers and selfless lovers out there . . . keep pushing forward.
