Dear Heavenly Father, we bring this situation before you and ask for a swift end to violence. Our hearts are breaking for the children and families in Gaza and Israel who have and continue to experience the unspeakable horror of attacks and war all around them. We pray for peace and ask that you will guide the hearts and minds of those in leadership. We especially pray for those children who have been physically and emotionally injured, and for those who have lost loved ones, that you will provide the right people with the right resources to help them, and that you will protect each person. Lord, we ask for your wisdom for all those involved and for the wider international community. Amen.
Family Offering Boxes

Reflection on Sunday’s Readings
‘Viva Cristo Rey!’ (‘Long live Christ the King!’)
The readings, on the last Sunday of the Church year, sum up what we have read, listening to, and pondering all year. We have watched as Jesus taught, healed, freed, consoled, and reached out to all. From birth to death, and in his glorified life, he was the visible presence of the Father’s kingdom of love on earth.
The Second Reading gives us a picture of Christ’s kingship. St Paul reassures the church at Corinth that, all earthly rule and authority will give way to Christ. When God’s enemies, including sin and death, are destroyed, then all will be alive in God. How we need such a message in today’s world!
The Psalm tells us that God, Shepherd and King, has such authority that we can safely feast, even within sight of our enemies. With him, we shall never be in want.
Jesus picks up the theme of the shepherd from the First Reading, in the Gospel, but now he is found not only in the one who serves the poor, but also in the poor themselves. Both readings reveal a divine bias, if we can say such a thing – against those who would exploit, and for those who are exploited.
The response to ‘Long live Christ the King!’ is ‘He lives!’ Let’s pray that Christ the King will live in me; will live in my actions this coming week. Amen.

New Pilgrim Path – Christ the King and the Last Judgment
The main teaching of the Gospel this Sunday, according to Fr Kieran O’Mahony, seems to be that Christians, in their vulnerability, enable non-believers to encounter Christ, because “just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” There is a deep message for disciples today and the church: salvation is made available not by power or benevolence but by weakness and vulnerability. Crosscare Christmas Appeal 2023
Crosscare expanded their Food Poverty Team across Dublin – Community Café in Portland Row, Dubin 1 has been revamped and they delivered over 5000 nutritious meals to people in need of support and helped and supported over 1000 families and children guiding them out of food poverty.

Christmas without your Mum Donna Ashworth
Christmas without your Mum means that you are now she. You are the one who creates Christmas and that can be hard because deep down inside you’re just a little girl who misses her Mama very much indeed.
