Invitation for Ministers of the Word – Register Now!!
Ministers of the Word – readers – play a very important and essential role during each Mass. Our attendance at Mass is very much enhanced when the readings are proclaimed in a meaningful way. To help all readers do this, Rosemary Lavelle, a leading lecturer in liturgy, will facilitate a training night to enhance even more, the proclamation of God’s word. Rosemary will attend on Monday, 18th September, 7.30-9.15pm in our Parish Centre. In addition, this night will be an encouragement for new readers to become part of this essential group – you will be most welcome. Pope Francis – Christian Unity
Pope Francis invited Christians of all denominations to gather in prayer in September to help further the cause of Christian unity. He said that on 30th September an ecumenical prayer service will take place in Rome – just before the first session of the Synod in the Vatican, to ponder the future direction of the Catholic Church and to rejuvenate its mission.
In Dublin there will be a gathering of the people of God – ‘Together 2023’ in ChristChurch Cathedral at 7pm, praying in communion with those in St Peter’s Square, Rome. All welcome.
Reflection on Sunday’s Readings
‘You must love your neighbour as yourself.’
We are to listen to the word of God, to our hearts, to one another, and to our community and are challenged to love one another, speaking out where necessary. Just as Jesus became our brother and made himself responsible for us, he asks that we do the same. (First Reading) God appoints Ezekiel as his sentry: a mouthpiece to sound a warning when danger appears. We, too, are to be on the lookout, helping one another rather than simply looking on. The Gospel echoes this. Jesus tells us what to do when things go wrong in relationships within a community. We should try to work things out one-to-one, then invite those we can trust to advise, and finally ask the community, bringing back those who stray. Jesus asks us not to give up on people, even when they do not listen to us.
As we embrace the beauty of God’s Kingdom, we pray for the grace to be good neighbours to each other and to all creation, restoring and caring for all that God has made.

Four Seasons Quarterly Collection
We will have our Quarterly Collection for our ongoing Church Projects on the weekend 30th September/1st October. To date we have a new heating system installed in time for the winter ahead and our guttering and Church porch apex have been repaired and painted. We have installed new cameras overlooking the car park and inside the Church with a CCTV recording system. Our next challenge ahead is to repair and resurface the carpark, hopefully before the end of the year. We would like to thank you all for your continued support and donations.
Crosscare Annual Collection
Annual Appeal for Homeless Prevention Services collection takes place next weekend 16th/17th September and replaces the Share collection. Crosscare provides residential homeless services and works with hundreds of families and individuals who are at risk of losing their existing accommodation. New Pilgrim Path – Canticle of Creation
The global ecumenical ‘Season of Creation’ runs until 4th October. St Francis, though blind when he composed Canticle of Creation, was able to see clearly with the inner eye of his mind the basic unity of all creation and his own place as a friar in the midst of God’s creatures. Memory Walk
Walkers needed to raise funds for vital services to support those with dementia and their carers!
