Readers play a very important and essential role and our attendance at Mass is very much enhanced when the readings are proclaimed in a meaningful way. Rosemary Lavelle, a leading lecturer in liturgy, will facilitate a training night to enhance the proclamation of God’s word tomorrow Monday, 18th September, 7.30-9.15pm in our Parish Centre. This night will be an encouragement for new readers to become part of this essential group – you will be most welcome. Congratulations – Fantastic Achievement
We are so proud of our local environmental groups led by Madeleine, Briarfield Residents Group. They have been given a number of awards in the Dublin City Council Neighbourhoods Competition – third in the individual contribution (Pink Ladies); winner of the Community Environment Initiative; special mention to Louis O’Reilly and Greendale Court. All this happened because of hard work and commitment all year. We extend our heartiest congratulations and appreciation and many thanks to all involved.
Reflection on Sunday’s Readings
The Lord is compassion and love, slow to anger and rich in mercy.
The readings remind us of God’s unconditional love and compassion and the sacrifice of Jesus’s death.
The First Reading tells us to avoid resentment, anger and hatred, and live by God’s commandments, showing true forgiveness and compassion for others, whatever hurt we have experienced, will set us free.
In the Second Reading, St Paul teaches the Romans how we live our life, influences those around us. We belong to Christ, Lord of the dead and the living. It is by the way we live and die that we lead others to him.
The Gospel parable of the merciful king and his unforgiving servant reiterates the key message that we must love and forgive others because of the love and compassion God has shown us, in spite of our sins.
This week, we pray for those who are unable to forgive. We think of those who are trapped in cycles of bitterness and division, which in so many parts of the world, lead to violence and war.
Crosscare Annual Collection
Annual Appeal for Homeless Prevention Services collection takes place this weekend 16th/17th September and replaces the Share collection. Crosscare provides residential homeless services and works with hundreds of people who are at risk of losing their accommodation. For any child wishing to receive the sacrament of First Holy Communion and Confirmation in our Parish in 2024 please note that registration is now open and details can be found on our Parish website kilbarrackfoxfieldparish.ie
You will also find the dates for all the preparation Masses and the Communion and Confirmation ceremonies itself on the home page of our website under Sacraments.
Notice was also shared with our Parish School and Faith Formation representative.
The first preparation Mass will take place on Sunday 15th October 2023 at 12pm and we look forward to meeting with you all then.

Four Seasons Quarterly Collection
Our Quarterly Collection for ongoing Church Projects will be on the weekend of the 30th/1st October. To date we have a new heating system installed in time for the winter ahead; the guttering and Church porch apex have been repaired and painted; new cameras installed overlooking the car park and inside the Church with a CCTV recording system. The next challenge is to repair and resurface the carpark, hopefully before the end of the year. We thank you all for your continued support and donations.
