The Building Hope Prayer
Pilgrim God, we give you thanks and praise. You constantly journey with us even in our darkness and doubts. We seek your way of loving kindness to walk together as one family.
Open our eyes to recognise you in the faces of one another,
in the breaking of bread and in the splendour of creation. May the risen Christ sow seeds of hope and new life deep within us. May our hearts and minds be filled with your Word, bringing forth truth, justice and peace. May the Holy Spirit working in and through us do much more than we can dare to imagine as we live out our baptismal calling in humble and loving service. We make this our prayer through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Reflection on Sunday’s Readings
‘Follow me’
The Gospel tells of the wholehearted commitment asked by Jesus of his followers. Jesus makes the three who come forward aware of what following him really means: it is not to be thought of as a part-time or ‘easy’ option. Jesus does not want his disciples to hesitate. In the Second Reading, St Paul emphasizes the importance of freedom. The Spirit will guide us so that we love our neighbours as ourselves. Living in freedom encourages us to take responsibility for our own lives, rather than blame others for any personal difficulties. Let’s pray this week for the grace accepting unconditionally God’s will for us. We also continue to pray for peace throughout the whole world
Eucharistic Adoration
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place from 11am-3pm from Tuesday to Friday each week.
Service of the Healing of the Generations
The Service of the Healing of the Generations (Family Tree) will take place today Sunday, 26th June in our Church, led by Fr Cathal and team, commencing with Holy Mass at 7pm. Those who can’t attend see www.kilbarrackfoxfieldparish.ie.
Prayer for Ukraine
Holy and Gracious God. We pray for the people of Ukraine and the people of Russia, for their countries and their leaders. We pray for all those who are afraid; that your everlasting arms hold them in this time of great fear. We pray for all those who have the power over life and death; that they will choose for all people life, and life in all its fullness. We pray for those who choose war; that they will remember that you direct your people to turn our swords into ploughshares and seek for peace. We pray for leaders on the world stage; that they may be inspired by the wisdom and courage of Christ. Above all, Lord, today we pray for peace for Ukraine. And we ask this in the name of your blessed Son. Lord have mercy. Amen.
Fr Finbarr Takes Sabbatical
Our much-loved Fr Finbarr is about to take a very well-
earned break from his parish duties in the form of a year-long sabbatical. It is difficult to imagine how we will manage in his absence.
Fr Finbarr has been with us in this parish since 2014 and
enhances and enlivens our liturgies with his unique
style. He is passionate about the Gospel message and is a wonderful orator, giving his whole heart in his homilies. He has been involved in all facets of our parish Church life; children and adults alike find spiritual reward from his unique compassionate personality.
We will all miss him very much and will count the
days until his return. Following the 6.30pm Mass on Saturday 9th July, we will have a celebration to mark his wonderful contribution to the Parish – all invited.
Dick Fields – Community Pays 50-Years’ Service Tribute
Last Sunday, the whole local community paid tribute to Dick Fields’ 50+ years of unceasing service in the area. All roads were represented with banners in a walk from Centra shopping centre to Naomh Barróg, where many people paid tribute to him. During the years, Dick has been involved – as a teacher in Scoil Eoin, Naomh Barróg GAA club, Maranatha Youth Club; Pop-Up choir; Musical School and many other activities in the area. Above all, Dick is a man of deep faith with an ongoing dedication to passing on that faith to the youth of the area. We extend our best wishes and congratulations to Dick and his family.
Active Retirement Association AGM
The ARA are having their AGM on 8th July at 8.30pm in the Parish Centre. All welcome.
Dues Collection
The summer Dues collection is now re-launched, and envelopes are at the back of the Church. They are not being delivered to your home. They can be returned over the summer months. The Archbishop reminds us of the value of coming together as a community to celebrate the Lord’s Day. Listen carefully to the Spirit calling us to build a future full of hope.
Cuppa and Chat in the Parish Centre
There will be a break for the Summer from 28th June – back in September and look forward to meeting everyone again then.
Applying for Legal Status
Do you know someone who may be an undocumented migrant? Undocumented people can apply for a legal status now. Applications for the Government’s new undocumented scheme are open until 31st July. Pathways – Applications Open
Applications are invited for Pathways, a two-year one evening a week course, beginning on Thursday 29th September, in DCU St Patrick’s Campus. Places limited. Early application advisable. It runs from September to May with a cost of €400 per year which may be paid in instalments. No exams or written work. Call in, Browse and Choose a Book
The Parish Centre will be open before and after weekend Masses and Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, to allow people to call in, pick a book and make a small donation.
I Love Your Shoes
I love your shoes; I said your hair looked amazing but what I really wanted to say was . . .
“Your energy sparks a little bit of something in mine, your smile warms my heart, and when you laugh, I just have to laugh too, it’s like a bubbling stream of fresh water running through my soul. I feel like the sun is shining on me when you’re near and when I leave you, sad as it is, I feel like I’ve been charged, plugged into the mains for an infusion of fizz and life.

Helping Others Brings Us Happiness
Helping others brings us happiness for three reasons:
- Diversion: When you worry less about your own needs, the stress of that hunt decreases. The feeling of compassion replaces the feeling of need.
- Perspective: Having concern for other people helps us remember that we are all facing similar problems in life – no matter what the individual severity of the issue is. Sometimes when we are focused on our own issues, they get put into perspective when we encounter the true suffering of others (for example, bereavement or a severe disability). It’s easy to then realise the excess amount of attention we’ve been giving our own problems. Having compassion helps us put our problems into perspective.
- Connection: Connecting with others by helping them can bring happiness into your life. Humans are social beings that need to have positive connections with other people in order to be happy. Connecting with other people enriches our lives and gives us a sense of fulfilment.
