Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.  Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.  I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Pope Francis and Corpus Christi

God knows how difficult it is, he knows how weak our memory is, and he has done something remarkable: He left us a memorial. He did not just leave us words, for it is easy to forget what we hear. He did not just leave us the Scriptures, for it is easy to forget what we read. He did not just leave us signs, for we can forget even what we see. He gave us food, for it is not easy to forget something we have actually tasted.”

Reflection on Today’s Gospel

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood will live in me and I in him’

Today’s readings show how God’s plan moves towards a new covenant of love through Christ.

St Paul (Second Reading) explains that Jesus himself has now become the mediator of a new covenant. Jesus brings ‘the perfect sacrifice to God through the eternal Spirit’, which takes away our sins. In the Gospel account of the Last Supper, Jesus shares a meal with his dearest friends, giving himself in the bread and wine, a gift of love and friendship. This week let us offer to God a promise of undivided love, and an offering of ourselves to the service of others.

Dear Parishioners,

The past 15 months have been very difficult for us all, not least the life of our Parish.  The income of parishes in the diocese has been severely affected with collections down by over 80%.  This is hardly surprising with the lockdown.  To help alleviate this Archbishop Farrell wishes to launch a new Summer Dues Collection.  It will be launched on 20th June.  I am very conscious of the many demands made on you during these historical times.  All the clergy are

grateful to you for your continued support and generosity.

Fr. Peter

Archbishop Farrell has communicated the following:

Public health advice is that special religious ceremonies, including First Holy Communions and Confirmations should continue to be postponed for the month of June. In line with the gradual reopening of society, from 5 July onwards, these ceremonies, and Baptisms, may take place while complying with Covid-19 guidance but ideally, where possible, should be rescheduled for the Autumn when it will be safer to do so. The Gov.ie Covid-19 website has been updated.

Special Anniversary for Fr. Peter

We extend our congratulations and love to Fr Peter as he celebrates the 40th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood on Monday next 7th June. May God bless him with many more years in his ministry.

The Future of Our Parish is in Our Hands!

In April, Archbishop Dermot Farrell set up a Task Force: Building Hope.  ‘I am very pleased that the Task Force reflects the diversity of the Archdiocese of Dublin, in terms of geography, expertise and the balance between lay and clerical, and male and female members. The dialogue within the Task Force will stimulate engagement with the whole diocesan family and shape an inclusive approach to a pastoral strategy appropriate to our times.’ He is seeking the opinions and views of everyone in the Diocese.

It is vital that we, as a Parish, get a varied response into the Task Force by 20th June.  We invite and encourage every parishioner to send in their recommendations, ideas, thoughts etc., on any issue of interest/concern as soon as possible. Please address your letter to the Chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Tuesday-Friday from 11am-3pm.

Weekly Reflection on the Scriptures

The weekly reflection continues each Monday 7.30-8.30pm. Contact Sr Phyllis at 086-890-9488 with your email address and join us on Zoom to reflect on the liturgy for the following Sunday. It is so rewarding and

enhances our participation at Mass on the day.

Walking Together in Hope – Spiritual Journey for Families – Year of the Family 2021/2022

The Archdiocese of Dublin will provide some simple and achievable ideas for families and parishes starting in September 2021. The ‘Walking Together in Hope’ initiative will be launched on 25 August 2021 at Saint Mary’s Pro-Cathedral on the third anniversary of the visit of Pope Francis to the ‘Pro’.

Government Regulations on Church Opening

As we resume attendance at Mass in our Church, we set out the following for weekend Masses –

  • The Sunday obligation remains suspended.
  • Please cooperate with the stewards as we try to do our best to navigate these strange times safely!
  • Face masks to be worn at all times and hands to be sanitised on entering and leaving.
  • Social distancing to be observed at all times.
  • No congregating outside the Church door or grounds.
  • The four doors in the Church are open – both main doors; door near the sacristy and the door in the lobby by the Parish Centre.
  • These doors are clearly marked – so please go out the same door you enter.
  • Please enter and exit by the same door.
  • The latest update on the celebration of the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation from the Archbishop recommends holding the ceremonies in the Autumn.
  • Baptisms will take place only in exceptional circumstances until further notice.

New Pilgrim Path Website of the Week

For nearly three thousand years, men and women have been lifting their hearts to God by praying and singing the psalms. The Psalms: 150 Ways of Praying, is an online course from the English Jesuits. It explores why these beautiful and timeless songs have such universal appeal and shows how the Psalms can set us on a pathway to deeper prayer. www.newpilgrimpath.ie.

The Cosmic Dancer

I sometimes forget
that I was created for Joy.
My mind is too busy.
My Heart is too heavy
for me to remember
that I have been
called to dance
the Sacred dance of life.
I was created to smile
To Love
To be lifted up
And to lift others up.
O’ Sacred One
Untangle my feet
from all that ensnares.
Free my soul.
That we might
Dance.

and that our dancing
might be contagious.                                            Hafiz.

No . . . by Erin Hanson

You are not your age,
Nor the size of clothes you wear,
You are not a weight,
Or the colour of your hair.
You are not your name,
Or the dimples in your cheeks.
You are all the books you read,
And all the words you speak,
You are your croaky morning voice,
And the smiles you try to hide,
You’re the sweetness in your laughter,
And every tear you’ve cried,
You’re the songs you sing so loudly,
When you know you’re all alone,
You’re the places that you’ve been to,
And the one that you call home,
You’re the things that you believe in,
And the people that you love,
You’re the photos in your bedroom,
And the future you dream of,
You’re made of so much beauty,
But it seems that you forgot,
When you decided that you were defined,
By all the things you’re not.

Challenge

Sometimes being anxious or stressed is the result of projecting yourself into an uncertain future or reliving past events that you cannot change. Scripture tells us that we can be alive in the moment when we surrender our worries to God. This weekend try to set aside 15 minutes to get quiet and pray for the peace of God to invade an area of your life that is causing you stress or anxiety.

We believe He will make His peace apparent to you.

Paul Bane & Matt Litton

Take Time to be Alone

Sometimes we get caught up with trying not to be lonely, that we constantly surround ourselves with the wrong people and things (or they are good people and things but too much of anything can become unhealthy).

However, taking time to be alone will help you work out who you are, your thoughts, emotions, and how you perceive certain things. This can be worked into your daily walks or meditations, or it can be done on a weekly or monthly scale. Take a weekend trip by yourself, take yourself out to get coffee, just do something you love on your own and allow you to do some soul search.

Thought for the Week

Thank you, Lord.  For Everything.
