Four Seasons Collection

Christ Jesus has made me his own!
The setting for this Sunday’s Gospel is Jerusalem during the Feast of Tabernacles. Yom Kippur, the final opportunity to repent before the close of the year, has just ended. The scribes and Pharisees standing before Jesus are missing the opportunity for repentance, but the lone woman, crouched there, takes it eagerly.
Jesus is offering this chosen woman a way out of her wilderness (First Reading). Working marvels for her (Psalm), he is doing something new by mixing what the righteousness of the law requires with forgiveness and mercy. He saves her life and then offers her the drink of new spiritual life. She leaves filled with gladness.
St Paul also received this newness of life (Second Reading). He, like the woman, has been possessed by Christ and desires only to continue upward toward the prize. He counts all else as rubbish. For him, knowing Christ as Lord is all that matters.
As Pilgrims of Hope in this Jubilee year, we continue to move towards Holy Week as Christ’s chosen, praying that we might be agents of his forgiveness and mercy in all the situations of our lives.

1st confessions next Wednesday 9th April at 11am for Scoil Eoin Adoration begins at 11.45am.
Preparations have started for the beautiful ceremonies of Holy Week and Easter. One of these is the Stations of the Cross for all at 12 noon Good Friday 18th April, and we invite children and young people to come along to the Parish Centre at 11am to prepare to participate in this moving ceremony.

Easter Mailing
Our Easter mailing is on the back table. Each road is labelled with approximately 20 per road. We need help with this delivery before our Easter week begins. Please consider delivering the road you live on.
A big thank you to all who supported the Country Market Coffee morning last week. With your generous help they raised €1,432 for Cancer Research.
All donations for books in the Parish Centre will be given to Trócaire Lenten Campaign. So, call in, get some books and donate after Mass Mon, Tues, Wed, Sat or Sunday.

Pope Francis
Pope Francis has expressed his closeness to the populations of Myanmar and Thailand, struck by an earthquake. In a telegram, the Pope expressed his sorrow at the loss of life and widespread devastation. He also offered heartfelt prayers for the souls of the deceased and assured his spiritual closeness to all affected by this tragedy. His thoughts also went to all emergency personnel. He prayed, “may they be sustained in their care of the injured and displaced, by the divine gifts of fortitude and perseverance.”

Congratulations to the children of ABACAS school who received the sacrament of Confirmation last Friday in our Church, celebrated by Fr Finbarr.

Courage Doesn’t Always Roar
Sometimes courage is just getting out of bed when your body feels like lead and your mind is a storm. It’s choosing to try one more time when all evidence suggests it’s pointless.
We talk about courage like it’s something grand, but most often it’s small and unglamorous. It’s sending that text. Making that call. Saying no when yes would be easier. Saying yes when no feels safer.
Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it’s the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, “I’ll try again tomorrow.”
The bravest people I know don’t look brave at all. They look tired. They look uncertain. They look like they’ve been through hell. But they’re still standing; Still hoping; Still believing that after everything that’s happened, good things might still be possible.
That’s the thing about bouncing back – it’s not about bouncing high or looking good while you do it. It’s just about not staying down. About finding that stubborn spark inside that refuses to be extinguished.

You Are Hurting but Healing
You are hurting but you are healing. It’s such a painfully beautiful thing. You may not see it right away but one day you will look back on this moment in your life and be so proud of yourself for how far you have come. Please trust that this feeling will not last forever and that you will reflect on this phase of your life and be so amazed at everything you have learned about yourself, even if it hurt a little (or a lot).
