Lent and Ash Wednesday
This coming Wednesday, 17th February, is Ash Wednesday, a day of fast and abstinence. Ashes will be blessed during 10am Mass and will be available in the Church all day.
St Valentines
As it is St. Valentines Day we send all our parishioners love and best wishes.
Saint Valentine known as Saint Valentine of Rome was a widely recognized 3rd-century Roman saint, commemorated in Christianity on February 14. From the High Middle Ages his Saints’ Day has been associated with a tradition of courtly love. He is also a patron saint of epilepsy.

Weekly Reflection on the Scriptures
Contact Sr Phyllis at 086-890-9488 with your email address and join us on Zoom any Monday night 7.30-8.30pm to reflect on the liturgy for the following Sunday. It is so rewarding and enhances participation at Mass on the day.
Reflection on Today’s Gospel
Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him. We see the loving compassion of God in Jesus who always responds to the plight of those around him. We see how Jesus responds to the desperate plea of the person with leprosy, with merciful, physical contact, resulting in restoration to health, and to a rightful place in the community. There is also a consequence to this, with Jesus becoming an outcast, having to stay in places where nobody lives. Let’s pray for the grace this week, ‘to be helpful to everyone at all times, not anxious for my own advantage’.
New Pilgrim Path Website of the Week
The season of Lent gives us an opportunity to reflect prayerfully on the unprecedented events of the past 12 months. We have been challenged, individually and collectively. Successive lockdowns have confronted us with the question of whether we want to go back to how things were, or to ‘grow back better’. From Ash Wednesday, Pray-As-You-Go offers a Lenten online retreat. ‘Growing Back Better’ to encourage us to reflect on what kind of people we desire to become and what kind of world we want for future generations. Fundraiser for the Swan Family
The Swan family, Briarfield Grove, is fundraising for a young family member’s vital life-saving cancer treatment and clinical care in Germany. A Virtual Relay Ireland-UK event takes place today (Sunday) 14th Feb with Lap of Honour around Kilbarrack first. Look out for their T-shirts and purple balloons. Monster raffle €10 per entry. Trocaire Lenten Campaign
This year’s Trocaire Lenten Campaign will focus on exploring the Impact of Conflict on Families in South Sudan. We learn about the suffering of people who have lost their homes and loved ones to war, and how they are rebuilding their lives through love, friendship and solidarity. Donations will go towards Emergency aid such as food, water and sanitation and hygiene items.

Continuous Rosary in Ireland for Peace and Charity
A Continuous Rosary will be offered up every minute of every day for Peace and Charity in Ireland. Begins on Ash Wednesday, 17th February. To make this work there needs to be a minimum of two parishioners per parish, one with surname beginning A-L and one with surname M-Z to say the rosary twelve times per year.
