Come Celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday
The Feast of Divine Mercy will be celebrated this Sunday, 7th April, starting at 2.30pm including Procession, Rosary, Confession with many priests available, Chaplet. Healing of the Generations Mass at 4.30pm. All are welcome.

New Pilgrim Path –
The quality of thought that drove the spiritual life of St Ignatius Loyola was his great imagination and played a central role in his conversion. Through his time directing others, he found how useful the imagination could be in fostering a deeper relationship with God.
See www.newpilgrimpath.ie for a wonderful Ignatian contemplation exercise inspired by Eugène Burnand’s vivid painting, “The Disciples Peter and John Running to the Sepulchre on the Morning of the Resurrection.” It is a marvellous way to celebrate this immense feast.

Reflection on Sunday Readings
My Lord and my God!’
On this Second Sunday of Easter, the readings invite us to believe and trust God’s mercy. According to the ways of the world, mercy does not really make sense, but this is the very faith Paul speaks of as that which ‘conquers the world’: forgiveness begets forgiveness, mercy begets mercy, love begets love (Second Reading). Our need for, and joy in, such graces is echoed in the Psalm, where we join with the psalmist saying: ‘Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy endures forever!’
The Acts of the Apostles (First Reading) shows that the mercy of the risen Lord continues to be poured out through the ministry of his apostles, while in the Gospel we see Jesus himself being the model for mercy for his fearful and doubtful friends.
The US journalist Cathleen Falsani wrote: ‘justice is getting what you deserve; mercy is not getting what you deserve; grace is getting what you don’t deserve.’ Let us pray that, though completely underserving of such a gift of grace, God’s divine mercy will have its effect, freeing and opening us to love ever more deeply.
Acknowledgments
We want to acknowledge the special, spiritual Holy Week ceremonies in our Church which were very well-attended and very much enhanced by the choir’s singing. The vigil on Saturday evening was followed by a great community get-together in the Parish Centre where everyone was treated to some of Anne Colbert’s delicious simnel cake. Another get-together followed the 12 noon Mass on Easter Sunday – the adults had refreshments in the Parish Centre and the children hunted for eggs in the garden. Some parishioners visited Howth Summit at sunrise on Easter Sunday morning – wonderful – ‘He is risen indeed!’

And Then, God Created Woman
When God created woman he was working late on
the 6th day. An angel came by and asked, ”Why
spend so much time on her?”
The Lord answered, “Have you seen all the
specifications I have to meet to shape her?
“She must function in all kinds of situations, cure
herself when sick and have the ability to work 18
hours a day.
“She must be able to embrace several kids at the
same time, have a hug that can heal anything, from
a bruised knee to a broken heart, and she must do
all this with only two hands.”
The angel was impressed. “Just two hands,
impossible! And this is the standard model?”
The Angel came closer and touched the woman.
“But you have made her so soft, Lord.”
“She is soft,” said the Lord, “but I have made her
strong; you can’t imagine what she can endure and
overcome.”
“Can she think?” the Angel asked.
The Lord answered, “Not only can she think; she
can also reason and negotiate.”
The Angel touched her cheeks, “Lord, this creation
is leaking. You have put too many burdens on her!”
“She is not leaking, it is a tear,” the Lord corrected
the Angel.
“What is it for?” asked the Angel.
The Lord said, “Tears are her way of expressing
her grief, her doubts, her love, her loneliness, her
suffering and her pride.”
This made a big impression on the Angel. “Lord,
you are a genius, you thought of everything. A
woman is indeed marvellous!”
The Lord agreed, “Truly she is. She has the
strength to amaze a man. She can handle trouble
and carry heavy burdens. She holds happiness,
love and opinions.
“She smiles when she feels like screaming. She
sings when she feels like crying, cries when she’s
happy and laughs when she’s afraid.
“She fights for what she believes in. Her love is
unconditional. Her heart is broken when a loved
one dies but she finds the strength to get on with
life.”
The Angel asked, “So she is a perfect being?”
The Lord replied, No. She has just one drawback]
