We remember in our prayers
Denis (Don) Thornbury, RIP late of Foxfield Park.
Don was a much-loved Sacristan for many years in our Church. He showed a great love for the Lord with daily attendance at Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and was involved with our Thursday evening Divine Mercy group. He will be reunited with his beloved wife Anna who passed away January 2022.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his sons Paul and Alan, family, neighbours, and friends.
May he rest in Peace.
Annual Mass for the Dead 2024
Our Annual Mass for the Dead for those who died since October 2023 will take place next Saturday, 2nd Nov. at 6pm. Invitation letters to all families have been posted out this week. We invite you to bring a photograph of your loved one for the sacred space in front of the Altar for the month of November. Please put the name on the back of the photo and bring to the Sacristy/Parish Office.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is held Tuesday to Friday, 11am-3pm, each week
‘What do you want me to do for you?’
Our Scripture today invites us to worship Christ Jesus, who opens our eyes to the marvels that he has done for us as our high priest, and reveals to us the Father. The readings also assure us that our God never abandons us, even in our bondage.
Using tender, compassionate imagery, Jeremiah addresses the exiled people of Israel with a poem of restoration. He promises that God will bring them home again: they will be restored to their own land, and God’s loving purpose will again be triumphant. (First Reading) The account of the miracle in the Gospel reveals another type of restoration: the restoration of sight to Bartimaeus, the blind beggar at the roadside who cries out to Jesus in desperation. Not only is Bartimaeus healed and his sight restored, but he also models discipleship by following Jesus without hesitation.
In the Second Reading from Hebrews, the theme of restoration appears again: Christ Jesus is our compassionate high priest who restores us as daughters and sons of God.
The Psalm is a pilgrim song of hope and joy, reminding us of God’s goodness in the past and his ongoing deliverance of his people.
This week, we pray for the eyes of our heart and mind to be opened to receive the life-giving revelations and blessings of Jesus. We also pray for all who are living lives of bondage and slavery in our world today, and seek God’s guidance as to how we can help.

Prayer for the Month of October for the Synod
Holy God, you have made us all members of the body of Christ, the people of God, and poured into our hearts the abundant gift of your Spirit. Today, we pray earnestly for all gathered in Rome for the Synod: may your grace go with them and give to all the courage to bring faith, hope and love in abundance to meet the challenges before us.
We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Altar List of the Dead
The envelopes for our November Altar List of the Dead are on the back table. As we will not deliver them this year, we ask that you bring one to someone who cannot collect. Envelopes can be returned to the Sacristy/Parish Office or
in the box outside the sacristy.
Gratitude from Sr Maureen and the Marginalised!
The sale of Sr Maureen’s book raised €480, last Sunday and over the previous few weeks. This money goes directly to the MMM ministry in Nigeria for the rehabilitation and preventative measures for trafficked women. Our parishioners can take a bow!

Healing of the Generations
The Service of the Healing of the Generations will take place this Sunday, 27th October, in our Church led by
Fr Cathal and team. The service commences with Holy Mass at 7pm and concludes at 8pm.

Take some time out in the run-up to the busy season with a Christmas Retreat which will be held in our Church of St. John the Evangelist Kilbarrack/Foxfield on Saturday 7th December from 10am to 4pm. New Pilgrim Path: Guided Meditation for All Souls Day
