Nollaig na mBan Celebration
The Feast of the Epiphany in Ireland, 6th January is marked by Nollaig na mBan or Women’s Little Christmas. For a number of years, we celebrated the feast in our parish centre with song, stories, chat and a cuppa. Of course this cannot happen this year. We send our best wishes to all the ‘mná’ in our parish and hope you can celebrate at home and maybe the ‘fir’ would spoil you for the day.
Happy New Year
As we begin a new year, we would like to acknowledge with thanks the many people who give so generously of their time working for our Church, especially during the last very difficult few months.
We would like to pay special tribute to our Parish Secretary, Janice, who ‘keeps the show on the road’ in her warm, pleasant, helpful way.
It is very much appreciated.
So, we wish all our parishioners a safe,
happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.

Happy New Year
Brush away old heartaches.
Learn from our mistakes.
Another year is finally over.
A new dawn awakes.
Let the old year out.
Welcome the new one in.
Bury the bad things of the past
As a new year now begins.
Make your New Year wishes
As simple as you can.
Pray for peace and love,
Not for wealth or fame.
Pray for health and happiness.
Pray for your fellow man.
Pray for all the ones you love.
Pray for those who’ve lost their way.
As the midnight hour chimes,
We leave the old and embrace the new.
I wish the things you wish for yourself,
And may God’s love stay with you.

County Your Blessings
Do not dream of possession of what you do not have: rather reflect on the greatest blessings in what you do have, and on their account remind yourself how much they would have been missed if they were not there. But at the same time you must be careful not to let your pleasure in them habituate you to dependency, to avoid distress if they are sometimes absent. Receive without pride, let go without attachment.”
– Marcus Aurelius
Procure The Cure (rap poem)
With coffee and chat
Mental illness combat
Social intermingling
Positive thinking
Laughing and gabbing
Not self-absorbing
People engaging
Prevents early ageing
Friends, the best medication
For your liberation
Don’t think of yourself
Or rot on the shelf
Not all about I
And thoughts gone cockeye
People are good
And mental good food
Don’t be alone
Locked in a cocoon
Get out and meet
And with a smile greet
Get moving those feet
Not trampled by defeat
Get out for a walk
Banter and talk
Gibber and jabber
Laughter and banter
All of the above
And friends that show love
Is the best medication
For your situation.

Let It Be
I feel we all looked for that perfect life..
But nothing is perfect..
When you stop looking for perfection and realise it’s in every situation that there are perfect moments..
Accepting what is as part of life..
Nothing in life is ever going to be perfect..
It’s all in how you look at it and how you deal with it..
Living life in all the disappointments and seeing them as lessons not punishments..
No-one said it was easy..
But it’s worth it when you stop fighting it..
Trusting God in depth in every single promise brings peace..
Brings every situation into context..
He will never lead us into ANYTHING without leading us through it..
Trusting God much more than our minds can fathom when things get so bad we feel, we must take matters in our own hands..
Let go of fighting for perfection and learn..
To just be.. – Lori Brough
Today Is the Day
Let’s try to eliminate the afters. I’m doing it after. I’ll say after. I’ll think about it after.
We leave everything for
later like ′′ after ′′ is ours.
Because what we don’t
understand is that:
Afterwards, the coffee
gets cold.
afterwards, priorities change.
Afterwards, the charm is
broken. Afterwards, health passes.
Afterwards, the kids grow up.
Afterwards parents get old.
Afterwards, promises are
forgotten.
Afterwards, the day becomes
the night. Afterwards, life ends.
And then it’s often too late.
So, Let’s leave nothing for
later.
Because still waiting to see
later, we can lose the
best moments, the best
experiences, best friends,
the best family.
The day is today. The
moment is now.
We are no longer at the
age where we can afford
to postpone what needs
to be done right away.”
It Looks Like an Eternity,
But It’s a Short Trip,
Enjoy Life and Always
Be Kind.
I will learn to live in the sunshine of your life instead of the dark shadow of your death

Blessed be God in His Angels and in His Saints
O Holy St Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me (request). O gentle and loving St Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms; and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen.
Thought for the Week
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
