The Building Hope Prayer
Pilgrim God, we give you thanks and praise. You constantly journey with us even in our darkness and doubts. We seek your way of loving kindness to walk together as one family.
Open our eyes to recognise you in the faces of one another, in the breaking of bread and in the splendour of creation. May the risen Christ sow seeds of hope and new life deep within us. May our hearts and minds be filled with your Word, bringing forth truth, justice and peace. May the Holy Spirit working in and through us do much more than we can dare to imagine as we live out our baptismal calling in humble and loving service. We make this our prayer through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Reflection on Readings for this Sunday
Our readings this week lead us to contemplate Christ’s self-sacrificing love. We are asked to follow Him, the Wisdom of God incarnate.
The First Reading states bluntly that we have enough difficulty grasping the world around us, so how can we understand the mind of God? Only through the gift of Wisdom might we begin to do so.
The Psalm expresses confidence in the Lord. Despite the transience of life, may God give us ‘wisdom of heart’.
The Gospel gives us Jesus’ teaching on true discipleship. This requires total commitment and will affect our nearest and dearest. This week, may we consider our freedom as children of God, and not be enslaved by our desires. We continue to pray for the peace of the world, and for all who suffer.
Prayer for Ukraine
Holy and Gracious God. We pray for the people of Ukraine and the people of Russia, for their countries and their leaders. We pray for all those who are afraid; that your everlasting arms hold them in this time of great fear. We pray for all those who have the power over life and death; that they will choose for all people life, and life in all its fullness. We pray for those who choose war; that they will remember that you direct your people to turn our swords into ploughshares and seek for peace. We pray for leaders on the world stage; that they may be inspired by the wisdom and courage of Christ. Above all, Lord, today we pray for peace for Ukraine. And we ask this in the name of your blessed Son. Lord, have mercy. Amen.
Eucharistic Adoration
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place from 11am-3pm from Tuesday to Friday each week.
Chairobic Exercises are Back
Chairobics return to our Parish Centre on Tuesday, 13th September 11.30am-12.30pm. Dear Lord, As our students begin a new school year,
I pray that you will keep them in your care.
Send Your Spirit to open their minds
To all that is true and beautiful and good.
Help them to see the gifts and talents
You have given them and to use them well.
Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom.
Help them to be kind to others
And lead others to be kind to them.
Give their teachers patience and understanding
And help them teach what is just and true.
Send your angels to guide and guard our
children and to keep them from all harm.
Open their young hearts to your presence
And enfold them in your peace and protection.
Hold them in the palm of your hand
And bring them home safely at day’s end.
Amen.
A Parent’s Worst Nightmare
A man lost his son and couldn’t bear the thought of living without him. He was suffering and couldn’t believe his son was gone. He cried and cried every day and night, missing his son, wishing things were different.
He couldn’t sleep and hadn’t slept in a long time.
One night, an old medicine man came to him in a dream and told him “Enough!! That’s enough crying!!”
The dad told him “I cannot stop, I am never going to see him again!”
The old medicine man said, “Do you want to see him again?”
The dad says: Yes, of course”. The old medicine man takes him to the entrance of a happy hunting ground where he sees many little beautiful children, so happy and innocent, carrying eagle feathers into the happy hunting grounds, smiling and laughing and just so beautiful.
The dad asks: “Where is my son? Who are these kids?”
The old medicine man said: “These are the children that are called home early, they are innocent and loved and they go right through to the happy hunting grounds, so happy”
The dad says: “And my son? Where is he? Why isn’t he with these children?”
The old medicine man said: “Come this way” and guided him to the side of the entrance.
A boy with a beautiful smile was standing there watching all the children enter the happy hunting grounds. He was standing there within reach of an eagle’s feather.
His dad hugged him, and the boy kissed his dad’s cheeks and told him he missed him. The dad said: “Why don’t you have an eagle’s feather like the other kids? Why are you waiting here at the entrance?”
The boy said: “I keep trying to get the eagle feather, Daddy, but your tears pull it out of reach. I see you are so sad, and I am tied to that feeling so I wait here until you’re okay”.
The dad burst out crying for the last time, He told his son: “Get that eagle feather and go. I will be okay, and I know you will be too.”
Don’t cry too long for that loved one you lost, whether son, daughter, husband, wife, mother or father!! Let them rest in peace. Don’t torment your life, because they won’t come back. Have faith that you will be together again, and that the Creator makes us a beautiful home with all our loved ones when we leave this world.

While praying one day, a woman asked, Who are you God? He answered, “I AM”, But who is “I AM,” she asked.
He replied. “I am Love, I am Peace, I am Grace, I am Strength, I am Joy. I am Safety. I am Shelter. I am Power. I am the Creator. I am the Comforter. I am the Beginning.
I am the End. I am the Way, Truth and the Light.
With tears in her eyes, she looked toward Heaven and said, “Now I understand. But who am I?”
God whispered tenderly to her and said – “You are Mine.”
