Diocesan Response to Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria
The Archbishop of Dublin decided that the SHARE collection this weekend, 25th/26th February, will be replaced by a collection to support the people of Turkey and Syria. which will be channelled through Trócaire who can ensure that all funds will be used to help those most badly affected. A portion of the Tap & Go donations on the weekend will also be included in the collection. Please give generously.

Service of the Healing of the Generations

Reflection on Sunday’s Readings
Lent can be an invitation to a renewal in the ways of living with and for God; a time to recognise the love of God in creation; a time to notice those ways in which we fall short of the desires that God has for each one of us and for our world, and to pray for the grace to live fully according to God’s ways. Perhaps this year we can value all that God has given us, of allowing God to deepen God’s life in us.
The readings speak of our choice to listen to the voice of God or to be tempted by evil. The Psalm is a prayer of one who knows their own sinfulness, but also that God’s love and mercy are more powerful than their weakness. St Paul celebrates the freedom from sin that Jesus brings us. Jesus’s gift of love overcomes our sin and brings us to life.
Through Lent, we ask for the grace to become more aware of God’s compassion and love for us, ready to journey with Jesus to his death on the cross and to celebrate his resurrection.

- St. Fintan’s Cemetery Mass on Sunday 11th June at 12 noon.New volunteers sought within our Partnership Parishes to help with the Cemetery Mass. There will be a meeting Monday 27th February at 10.45am in St. Fintan’s Parish Centre to brief the volunteers on all aspects of the organisation of the Cemetery Mass.
New Pilgrim Path – Retreat Online Lives to Inspire
Over Lent, the Lives to Inspire retreat from the Scottish Jesuits will focus on 40 people, some canonised saints, others renowned for their lives of love and public service including Francis of Assisi, Dorothy Day, Nelson Mandela, Elizabeth Ann Seton, St Brendan the Navigator, Hildegard of Bingen and many more. Tomorrow Is Another Day
In 1973, a man sent a distressed letter to E.B. White (July 11, 1899–October 1, 1985), lamenting that he had lost faith in humanity. The beloved author, who was not only a masterful letter-writer but also a professional celebrator of the human condition and an unflinching proponent of the writer’s duty to uplift people, took it upon himself to boost the man’s sunken heart with a short but infinitely beautiful reply:
Dear Mr. Nadeau:
As long as there is one upright man, as long as there is one compassionate woman, the contagion may spread and the scene is not desolate. Hope is the thing that is left to us, in a bad time. I shall get up Sunday morning and wind the clock, as a contribution to order and steadfastness.
Sailors have an expression about the weather: they say, the weather is a great bluffer. I guess the same is true of our human society — things can look dark, then a break shows in the clouds, and all is changed, sometimes rather suddenly. It is quite obvious that the human race has made a queer mess of life on this planet. But as a people we probably harbor seeds of goodness that have lain for a long time waiting to sprout when the conditions are right. Man’s curiosity, his relentlessness, his inventiveness, his ingenuity have led him into deep trouble. We can only hope that these same traits will enable him to claw his way out.
