We welcome the children from Scoil Eoin, Northbay and Gaelscoil Míde who will receive their First Holy Communion this weekend.
Reflection on Sunday’s Readings
Go, make disciples of all nations!’ Forty days after the Resurrection, Jesus ascends to heaven triumphant to sit at the Father’s right hand. For the disciples, their time of formation with him is over. The First Reading from the Acts of the Apostles gives an account of the Ascension. Jesus promises to send his Holy Spirit to be with his disciples, to fill them with his power, so that they can witness to him ‘to the ends of the earth.’
Matthew’s Gospel on the Ascension focuses on Jesus’s authority and his sending forth of the disciples to witness, baptise and teach. He promises to be with them ‘to the end of time.’ We pray today that those who are struggling to find peace, may feel God’s presence in their heart.
Golden Opportunity for Readers of the Word
Ministers of the Word – readers – play a very important and essential role during each Mass. Our attendance at Mass is very much enhanced when the readings are proclaimed in a meaningful way. To help all readers do this, Rosemary Lavelle, Pastoral Co-ordinator in the Dublin Diocese, and a leading lecturer in liturgy, will facilitate a training night to enhance even more the proclamation of God’s word. Rosemary will attend THIS Wednesday 24th May, 7.30-9.30pm in our Church.
In addition, this night will be an encouragement for new readers to become part of this essential group – you will be most welcome.

Novena Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Theme ‘For renewal of the Church in the Archdiocese of Dublin, May 21st to 29th. Novena Prayer Cards have been produced by the Archdiocese of Dublin (Building Hope). They are available on the back table of our Church for all.
Congratulations and best wishes to the children from Foxfield Special School who received First Holy Communion and Confirmation on Wednesday last in a very moving ceremony.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place from 11am-3pm, Tuesday to Friday.

‘Bumper Book and Bun Fest!’
Our Church needs urgent help to fund vital maintenance work – some completed and some on-going. The completed work could not have happened without your generous donations. In an effort to ‘do our bit’ to help, we will have a “Bumper Book and Bun Fest” – 4pm- 7.30pm Saturday 27th; 10am-3pm Sunday 28th May in the Parish Centre. All are invited to come along to browse the books, donate and enjoy a delicious cream tea.

- Presiding: The Art of Leading the People of God in Public Prayer The Liturgy Association of Ireland is holding a conference on the above theme, lead by Very Rev. Nigel Dunne, Sr. Moira Bergin and Rev. Prof. Liam Tracey. The conference will take place on Saturday 27th May in St. Patrick’s College, Maynooth. Cost: €35 for the day. Registration at 10.30am, the conference will finish by 5pm. As Christian communities continue to gather in public prayer, some communities are experiencing a lack of leaders (ordained and lay) in their public prayer. Leadership is a task entrusted to the whole people of God. This day will explore the theology that undergirds the practice of leadership. The conference will comprise input, practice and reflection.

A celebration for this wonderful feast will take place in our Church at 7am on 28th – to welcome the coming of the Holy Spirit with prayers and hymns

Service of the Healing of the Generations

The Solemnity of the Ascension is commonly referred to as the Miracle of Hope. The Holy Spirit would infuse the apostles very souls, taking away their fear and transforming them into stronger, holier, and more peaceful people; sending them forth to preach the Gospel of Christ with fidelity and constancy.
