Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Annual Charity Tax Refund Scheme
We ask those who have received the forms about the Annual Tax Return to return them as soon as possible, signed and including PPS to the Parish Office. If you do not wish to be involved, please let the parish office know.
Leaving Certificate Students
We continue to hold our students in our prayers. Last week the CAO offers were released and we know that many people are pleased. Others may be disappointed – however are many other options available which can often work out for the best.
Trip to Glenstal Abbey
Fr Séamus and Frank are planning a trip to Glenstal Abbey soon. The Abbey is well worth a visit; a place of great natural beauty, of prayer and work. It is a Benedictine Monastery where the monks pray at regular intervals throughout each day. It is also the home of some very interesting icons. Check out the website. www.glenstalabbey.com. Weekly Reflection on the Scriptures
The weekly reflection resumes on Mondays 7.30-8.30pm, starting tomorrow, 6th September. Contact Sr Phyllis at 086-890-9488 with your email address and join us on Zoom to reflect on the liturgy for the following Sunday. It is so rewarding and enhances our participation at Mass on the day.

Reflection on Today’s Liturgy
‘You are the Christ!’
This Sunday we contemplate Jesus, who is, as Peter declares, the Christ, the anointed one of God. Our readings help us to understand the journey Jesus takes to show his love for us. James, in the Second Reading, underlines the practical consequences of our faith: the loving response the faithful follower must give. In the Gospel, Jesus asks his disciples about what people are saying of him. When Peter declares that he is the Christ, Jesus reveals the suffering ahead of him and that we his disciples, are to follow the same path. Let us be aware that we are disciples of Jesus, living out our lives in his name.
Confirmation and First Holy Communion
We send our congratulations and best wishes to the Scoil Eoin children who received the sacrament of Confirmation yesterday. Next Saturday, 18th September, children from Gaelscoil Míde will be confirmed. We ask that everyone keep these children in their prayers.
Annual Crosscare Collection
The Annual Collection for Crosscare, the social support agency of the Archdiocese of Dublin will be taken up at all Masses in the Diocese next weekend 18th/19th September. It will replace the usual Share collection.
Through their services for Homeless, Youth, Migrants and Refugees, Crosscare focuses on helping people and families when they need it most They provide food parcels and nutritious meals daily. Demand for their services has increased as the pandemic impacted the most vulnerable in our society.. Please give generously on 18th/19th or online at www.crosscare.ie.
The Cry of the Earth, The Cry of the Poor
We need world leaders to take urgent action on global warming. Archbishop Dermot Farrell has published a pastoral letter entitled The Cry of the Earth, The Cry of the Poor. An excerpt says: One possible next step for communities and parishes is to consider signing the ‘Healthy Planet — Healthy People’ petition. The cry of the earth and the cry of the poor go hand in hand. For the Holy See, the petition is a key advocacy action for this year’s Season of Creation. Communities, people in parishes and dioceses, as well as religious congregations are encouraged to sign the petition by going to www.healthyplanetandpeople.org.

We Must Leave The Needy Their Dignity
A lady asks: “How much do you sell your eggs for?” The old vendor replies “50¢ an egg, madam”. The lady says, I’ll take six eggs for €2.50 or I’m leaving. The old salesman replies: “Buy them at the price you want, Madam. This is a good start for me because I haven’t sold a single egg today and I need this to live.” She bought her eggs at a bargain price and left with the feeling that she had won.
She got into her fancy car and went to a fancy restaurant with her friend. They ordered what they wanted. They ate a little and left a lot of what they had asked for. So they paid the bill, which was €150. The ladies gave €200 and told the fancy restaurant owner to keep the change as a tip . . .
This story might seem quite normal to the owner of the fancy restaurant, but very unfair to the egg seller . . .
The question it raises is:
Why do we always need to show that we have power when we buy from the needy? And why are we generous to those who don’t even need our generosity?
I once read that a father used buy goods from poor people at high price although he didn’t need the things. Sometimes he paid more for them. His son was amazed and asked him “why are you doing this Dad?” His father replied: “It’s charity wrapped in dignity, son.”
Tasting Raindrops
Living on the edge
Even at the best of times,
A pastoral population
Whose animals give them
Meat, milk, clothing, company,
Even self-respect
And status in society.
But without rain
Camels sit down and cry
And die.
Without their herds
The people are bereft of hope.
When, at last, the rain comes
It does so with a vengeance,
Turning dirt-tracks into torrents,
Then ankle-deep in water
The masses dance
With mouths turned skyward
Tasting raindrops.
