Four Seasons Collection
Our quarterly collection will take place after all Masses this weekend 12th/13th October. This collection is to raise funds for projects and repair work in our Church.
Our next project is to replace the bathroom in the sacristy and upgrade the sacristy’s facilities which are experiencing dampness and leaks. Your support is appreciated.
Reflection on the Scriptures for this Sunday
‘For people it is impossible … but everything is possible for God.’
Today’s readings stress the need for wisdom when discerning our priorities. They challenge us to see the world and our place in it through the lens of wisdom.
The First Reading says that wisdom, God’s greatest gift, is more valuable than anything else; having wisdom means possessing all things. Wisdom is personified; she is God’s own self for us.
The Psalm teaches us to value our days and to use wisely the gifts therein.
The Second Reading shows how God’s word can read our deepest thoughts and intentions.
It is the Word of God, enfleshed in Jesus of Nazareth, that discerns the priorities of the rich young man in the Gospel. Because nothing is hidden from God, the wealthy man is seen and sees himself held accountable. He is invited to perceive the distractions his great wealth brings, and to receive the riches of deep relationship with Christ.
This week let’s pray that we might be open to the irresistible Word and Wisdom of God; that we might let ourselves be discerned and challenged; that we may become truly rich in Christ.
World Missions Sunday 20th/21st October 2024
World Missions Sunday is the Holy Father’s annual appeal to support overseas mission and missionaries. It takes place in every single parish worldwide where the Church is present. In Ireland, Missio Ireland is tasked with organising the Mission Sunday collection. Missio Ireland is the Pope’s official charity for overseas Missions.
The theme this year, which Pope Francis has chosen is ‘Go and invite everyone to the banquet’. Mission, he said is a tireless going out to all men and women, to invite them to encounter God.

Annual Mass for the Dead 2024
Our Annual Mass for the Dead for those who died since October 2023 will take place on Saturday 2nd November at 6pm. More details to follow over the next 2 weeks.
Altar List of the Dead
The envelopes for our November Altar List of the Dead will be available by the end of next week on the back table for delivery.. We kindly ask parishioners to consider delivering a bundle to the road they live on to help ease the burden of our few ‘regulars’ who usually deliver over 1800 envelopes. Each bundle contains 20 envelopes or less which would take 5 to 10 minutes of your time on your own road. Your help is appreciated.
Prayer for the Month of October for the Synod
Holy God, You have made us all members of the body of Christ, the people of God, and poured into our hearts the abundant gift of your Spirit. Today, we pray earnestly for all gathered in Rome for the Synod: may your grace go with them and give to all the courage to bring faith, hope, and love in abundance to meet the challenges before us.

Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Dublin Diocese Annual Mass Attendance Survey
The count continues this weekend and next weekend
12th /13th and 19th/20th.
We are asking for two volunteers for each Mass over these weekends to take an approximate count of attendance. One to be stationed at each porch. Please give your name to Janice if you can volunteer. The total count must be filled in on a form provided on the sacristy table following each Mass. We appreciate your help.
New Pilgrim Path: Go Down to the Potter’s House
“Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you, my message.” So, I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel… Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does? Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.”
These words from the Book of Jeremiah inspired Donagh O’Shea, a Dominican friar, a retreat leader, an authority on the mediaeval mystics, and a potter. 30 years ago, he began workshops, combining meditative work with clay. The aim is to help overcome the effects of centuries of introspection and individualism and to discover in ourselves and in the Gospel a straightforward simplicity.
