Reflection on Sunday’s Gospel
All readings offer hope and direction to communities living in the midst of turbulent change and uncertainty.
In the Second Reading, the early Christian community is taught that there is no need for the ancient priestly practice of offering sacrifices for forgiveness. Christ offers us forgiveness and freedom from the burden of sin.
(Gospel). Jesus is preparing his disciples for a time of loss, tribulation, change, and the new life of Resurrection. Jesus also reminds us that it is the nature of our world always to be facing moments of death and resurrection. The eternal words of Jesus will never pass away, and these are our comfort and refuge for the uncertain times we live in now. Let us pray for each other, that we will forever keep the Lord in our sight. May we be living signs of Christ’s love and forgiveness in our world, and may we face these challenging times with confidence.

We Need to Talk Webinar

Pilgrimage to Knock Today
Today Sunday 14th November, the Bishops of Ireland will hold a pilgrimage to the Marian Shrine in Knock and concelebrate Mass at 3pm for all who have died during the pandemic, and their families and for all who selflessly sacrificed so much during the pandemic.

The Priest And The Glass of Water
A lady went to her Priest and said ‘Father, I won’t be going to your church anymore.’
The Priest responded ‘But why?’
The lady said ‘Ah! I saw a woman gossiping about another member; a man that is a hypocrite; the worship team living wrong; people looking at their phone during service; among so many things wrong in your church.’
The Priest replied ‘OK. But before you go, take a full glass of water and walk around the church three times without spilling a drop. Afterwards, leave the church if you desire.’
The lady thought: too easy! She walked three times around the church as the Priest had asked. When she finished, she told the him she was ready to leave.
The Priest said, ‘Before you leave I want to ask you. When you were walking around the church, did you see anyone gossiping?’ The lady replied ‘No.’
‘Did you see any hypocrites?’ The lady said ‘No.’
‘Anyone looking at their phone?’ ‘No.’
‘You know why?’ ‘No.’
‘You were focused on the glass, to make sure you didn’t stumble and spill any water. It’s the same with our life. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we don’t have time to see the mistakes of others. We will reach out a helping hand and concentrate on our own walk with the Lord.’”
At any church, there are going to be things to complain about. A church is filled with people, and people aren’t perfect. Only Jesus can set the perfect example, so let’s focus on Him!
Be There for the Depressed
