Important Notice
The Sign-in Register in the Parish Office must be signed by all Ministers, Readers, Altar Servers, the Funeral and Baptismal Teams and Collection helpers before and after each Mass, including Sacristans and Priests. Visitors to the sacristy who do not take part in Mass ceremony preparations do not sign the register. These Regulations must be always upheld. The Sign-in Folder is available in the Parish Office on the Counter clearly marked.
Lourdes Collection 2024
Next weekend 24th/25th August, there will be an outdoor collection after all Masses to assist with the costs of bringing sick pilgrims as part of this pilgrimage in September. This year the overall collection in the Dublin Diocese is a very much reduced figure from last year. It is a very worthy cause, and your contributions will be very much appreciated, especially as we hope to partly fund the inclusion of a frail parishioner for this year’s pilgrimage.
You may wish to sign the blue sheet on the back table which will be brought to Lourdes for prayers for your intentions.
New Pilgrim Path – “Cheap Grace” and “Costly Grace”
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the German Lutheran pastor who was executed by the Nazis for resisting Hitler’s regime, left a rich theological legacy. His book, The Cost of Discipleship, is a classic of Christian thought. In it, says “Cheap grace,” is the grace we bestow on ourselves…grace without discipleship. “Costly grace” is the gospel which must be sought again and again…. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life.”

Reflection on the Scriptures for this Sunday
‘Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever!’
The readings for this Sunday tell us of the nourishment that comes from heaven and of our need to draw everlasting life from our relationship with Jesus – as well as pursuing wise and Spirit-filled paths in life.
The First Reading makes explicit the value of Wisdom, depicted as a woman seeking and inviting everyone to come and be nourished at her table of learning.
The Psalm continues last week’s psalm of thanksgiving telling us that those who seek the Lord lack no blessing.
St Paul (Second Reading) encourages the early Christians to live with awareness and intelligence, and not to be thoughtless. He advises them to discern and recognise the will of the Lord in their own times, and to live lives filled with the Holy Spirit. This message continues to be very relevant to us in the present.
In the Gospel, Jesus invites those around him to believe in him; to be in communion with him; to live in him and draw life from him, just as he himself draws life from the living Father.
Let us pray for each other throughout this week, that we may seek the nourishment of a life-giving relationship with God, with one another, and with the planet we share.

Kathleen was the mother of our beloved Sacristan Aishling, who gives such wonderful service to our Church. We extend our sincere sympathy to Aishling and all of Kathleen’s family and assure them of our thoughts and prayers.

is seeking compassionate volunteer drivers in our community to help to continue the vital service of transport for patients to cancer treatment appointments. If you have a few hours to spare, a valid driving license, and a safe, reliable vehicle, you can ease the journey during a challenging time, offering comfort and support when it is needed most. Pathways – Adult Faith Formation
Reflection on Pathways is an Adult Faith formation programme run by the Archdiocese aimed at all adults – (highly recommended by a number of parishioners who participated). It is a 2-year course on Thursday evenings, 7pm – 9.30pm, from September to May in DCU, Drumcondra. Lesson Of Time – Karma
When a bird is alive, it eats ants. When the bird is dead, ants eat the bird. Time and circumstances can change at any time. Don’t devalue or hurt anyone in life. You may be powerful today, but remember, time is more powerful than you. One tree makes a million match sticks but only one match is all that is needed to burn a million trees. So be good and do good.
The road I’ve travelled hasn’t been easy, but I’m still here. The only reason I am here today is because God was walking the road with me, every step of the way. Amen.
