Lourdes Collection 2024
We have RESCHEDULED this outdoor collection to THIS WEEKEND 31st/1st September after all Masses to assist with the costs of bringing sick pilgrims to Lourdes this week. This year the overall collection in the Dublin Diocese is a very much reduced figure from last year. It is a very worthy cause, and your contributions will be very much appreciated, especially as we hope to partly-fund the inclusion of a frail parishioner for this year’s pilgrimage. You may wish to sign the blue sheet on the back table which will be brought to Lourdes for prayers for your intentions.
Clarification re Sign-in Register in the Parish Office
Following recent discussions with the Safeguarding Authority in the Diocese, the current requirements are –
Only the following people sign the register in the Parish office at all times: Priests of the Parish and visiting Priests, Sacristans, Deacons and the Parish Secretary.

Pathways – Adult Faith Formation
Pathways is an Adult Faith formation programme run by the Archdiocese aimed at all adults – (highly recommended by a number of parishioners who participated). Reflection on the Scriptures for this Sunday
You must do what the word tells you
Our readings this week challenge us to reflect on how much the word of God influences the way we live our lives.
In the First Reading, Moses explains to the people that it is by obeying the laws given in the commandments that they will have life in the land promised to them by the Lord.
In the Gospel, Jesus describes the lip-service of the Pharisees, who, as foretold in the words of Isaiah, offer ‘worthless worship’. Their adherence to human traditions and values takes their hearts far from God.
This week we may consider how closely our lives reflect what God asks of us, and in what ways – adapting the words of the Psalm – we walk without fault, act with justice and speak truth from the heart. Chosen to be the children of God, we pray for the grace, strength and courage to live according to the message of the truth we have received through the teaching of Jesus.
From Pastoral Letter – Building Hope with Open Hearts
JESUS’ CONCERN IS FOR OUR HEARTS… he seeks to draw us close, heart-to-heart with him. May we open our hearts, inviting the Spirit to guide our every action, awakening and enlivening us as we build hope together across the Archdiocese.
This relationship with Jesus is the foundation of Building Hope, our journey of renewal in the Archdiocese. There is now a new phase – Building Hope with Open Hearts. To support this initiative, workshops which I ask parish leaders to attend, will seek to guide us, using a synodal method of PRAYER – REFLECTION – PLANNING, taking action together in parishes over 2025–2027. This will mean moving beyond certain worries that we understandably have, as well as facing up to the ‘resistance’ that often surfaces when we need to change. The Church in Europe is in a time, both of decline and of new beginning. The decline is there for all to see. Let us look at the Church – and the world – with the eyes of God. Smallness is not an end-point, but a beginning. This is how the Church began. Let us find our way, step-by-step, working more deeply together, as we build our partnerships of parishes. This Is Not Forever
When somebody falls apart don’t try to put them back together in your image. Don’t try to reassemble them at all. That’s not your job. Just Do Enough
