Knock Prayer Themes for 2026

Consider these themes for your prayers, inspired by Knock’s message of peace and faith:

Guidance & Peace: “Help me to remember that we are all pilgrims on the road to Heaven. Fill me with love and concern for my brothers and sisters in Christ… Comfort me when I am sick, lonely or depressed”.

New Beginnings: As 2026 approaches, pray for spiritual growth, health, and blessings, asking for God’s direction in the year ahead.

Intercession: Ask Our Lady of Knock to pray for your intentions, healing, and your journey towards God.

Christmas Dues Envelopes can be left into Number(s) 54/56 Foxfield St. John or to the Sacristy/Parish Office or our new drop box post box on the main Church door.

Happy New Year

As we begin a new year, we would like to acknowledge with thanks the many people who give so generously of their time working for our Church. It is very much appreciated.

We would like to pay special tribute to our Parish Secretary, Janice Dornan, who ‘keeps the show on the road’ in her warm, pleasant, helpful way.

We wish all our parishioners a happy, healthy and peaceful New Year.

The Gospel of Matthew 2: 13-15, 19-23, tells us of Joseph seeing an angel in a dream saying “Get up, take the child and his mother with you and escape into Egypt, and stay there until I tell you.”, Almost nothing has gone as the Holy Family might have expected.  First, having to uproot themselves from Bethlehem, they find themselves forced to travel to Egypt to escape the murderous tactics of King Herod, and even after his death, it seemed safest to travel northwards to the little village of Nazareth.
We can visualise their plight and are reminded of it by the many migrants who find themselves in equally hazardous conditions today, with nowhere safe to lay their heads, and in need of the support, care and guidance of those around them to stay afloat.

The New Year

The New Year can often bring a mixed bag of emotions and memories for many of us. The events of this past year including an ongoing pandemic, racial tensions, joblessness, and political unrest created an unprecedented time of unrest and anxiety. While some may have just experienced the best year ever and look forward to an even greater one ahead, others may have just trudged through one deep struggle after another. The fresh calendar year brings desperate hope for things to be better, with an ache for the still-fresh wounds to slowly begin their process of healing. Praying at the start of the New Year doesn’t always bring immediate change at the stroke of midnight, but it begins the opening of our hearts to God’s Words of hope and peace.

Whether you’ve just walked through the greatest year of your life or are incredibly glad to see this one finally over, one truth still rings clear amidst it all. You are not alone. Not ever. Scripture is filled with prayers of men and women who reached out to God for a fresh start. Praying is the main source of connection to the one who created you and the one who wants you to experience blessings and promises in the future.

Our God is a “with us” God. On the heels of the celebration of the birth of our King, that reminder has the power to carry us right into a fresh, new start. He is Immanuel, God with us. And though things and people around us shift and change, our God never changes. May these New Year prayers fill your heart and mind with powerful proclamations as you step into the new year.

The best thing you can do today is to enjoy what is already here in your life.  You have so many blessings right in front of you that are waiting to be enjoyed.
A grateful heart attracts more to be grateful for.  You are free from everything that used to weigh you down caused you stress.
The next chapter of your life will be the greatest yet.

The Old Year Is Done,              Let It Go

We are coming to the end of another unique year.    You have a couple of days left to let it all go.

Let go of worry, what will be will be.    Let go of regret, what’s done is done.   Let go of anger, it’s prolonging your pain.  Let it all go and make way.

You can’t reach for the new, if your arms are full of yesterday’s baggage.

We can’t go back, my friends, but we can move on, lightly, without that load.

So, Let it all go, set it all down. It’s dragging you back.

And you’re not going back, You’re going forward.  So go forward, with peace.

You did what you did, life gave what it gave,

and we are who we are.

March on…

Love first.    ~Donna Ashworth

Life Is Short, Be Happy

There comes a time in your life, when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it.

You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good.

Love the people who treat you right, pray for the ones who do not.

Life is too short to be anything but happy.

Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living. –

José N. Harris

If you’re struggling right now, take a slow breath and soften your shoulders – you don’t have to hold everything alone.  Whatever you’re carrying, it makes sense that you feel tired, unsure, or overwhelmed.  But you deserve gentleness, patience and care, especially from yourself. This moment doesn’t define you – it’s simple a chapter, and chapters do change.  We hope you can find a way to let these words wrap around you with warmth. You are doing the best you can and right now this is enough.

Message from The Sanctuary
With Joy and Kindness

Joy is often misunderstood as something fleeting or dependent on circumstances. However, in meditation, we come to discover joy as a steady presence, a presence that arises when we slow down, soften our attention, and meet each moment with kindness. At the Sanctuary, Joy is not about constant happiness, but about feeling alive, connected, and at ease with what is.

As we look toward 2026, we do so with a sense of excitement and open-hearted anticipation. New offerings, deeper connections, and fresh possibilities are beginning to take shape. At the same time, our practice reminds us that joy does not live only in the future. It is found here and now and by accepting this moment just as it is, without rushing past it in search of what comes next. Whether joy feels abundant or distant right now, you are welcome exactly as you are.

May this space remind you that joy can be found not only in extraordinary moments, but also in the quiet beauty of being present, together.

The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
