Parish Office Update
Over the next few months, our Parish Office may not be open on its usual 4 days (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri). This is due to health issues for Janice our Parish Secretary. We ask for your prayers and patience during this time.

‘It is the Lord!’
Today’s joy-filled readings during this Easter season of resurrection speak of the meaning of discipleship, both in our personal relationship with Jesus and in our relationships with other people.
The apostles, filled with the Holy Spirit (First Reading), continue to proclaim the teachings of Jesus. When confronted by the religious leaders, they insist on obeying God rather than any human authority.
The joy of the apostles is based on their faith that God will change our ‘mourning into dancing’, as the Psalm of praise and thanksgiving proclaims. Our merciful God will lift us from our troubles.
The Second Reading presents a vision of heavenly worship, with every creature in the universe praising Jesus as the risen Lamb that was slain: ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honour and glory and might forever and ever!’
John recounts Jesus’s third post-Resurrection meeting with the disciples, who have returned to their old ways of fishing (Gospel). Jesus calls to them at dawn, guiding them to a miraculous catch, followed by a shared breakfast. Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves him, instructing him to care for his followers.
We pray for a spirit of justice and generosity in situations of conflict, injustice and poverty in our world.
The booklet ‘God’s Influencer’ about Carlos Acutis, who will be canonised shortly, is available in the Parish office at a special offer of €10.

Spiritual Thought for the Week

There is a growing awareness of how beneficial prayer can be in our spiritual lives. We sometimes think that prayer is long, complex and boring and beyond our reach. But in many ways, it is within our reach and especially when we apply prayer to those everyday events in our lives. We can find God present in what we are doing now, be it out for a walk, reading a book, working in the garden, getting in some exercise or watching the beauty of nature. The list can never be exhausted.
There is something powerful when you see communities gather in prayer. If there is a sudden or unexpected tragedy in a parish, the community gathers in the church for a prayer service. The ‘coming together’ gives purpose, meaning, hope and great peace and comfort. God is also present bringing healing and love.
So, if you find prayer difficult right now, know that there are many people praying for you. When all seems lost, there is hope because of the support and prayers of others.
Deacon Don Devaney will attend the 7.30pm Mass on Thursday 15th May, to give thanks for the Divine Mercy.
Prayer for Teenagers / Students to Blessed Carlos Acutis
Dear Carlos,
You loved Jesus with all your heart and made Him the centre of your life. You used your gifts to spread His love and truth.
Please be there for me, guide and inspire me.
Help me in my studies and exams.
Give me wisdom in choosing my career, so that I may fulfil God’s plan for my life.
Help me when I am worried or stressed.
When I struggle, give me patience and strength.
When I succeed, help me to be humble and thankful.
Remind me that Jesus is always with me, and that I can trust in Him always. I ask you to obtain for me
(mention your request).
Teach me to stay close to Jesus in the Eucharist, to love Mary our Mother as you did, and to use my gifts to help others. Blessed Carlos, pray for me! Amen.
St John’s Corner Book Stand
Books are for sale on the stand in St John’s Corner which will be replenished every few months. A particular book can be ordered in the office if requested. Prices are on each book. Please put money in the safe on the wall beside the book stand or give it to Janice or Aishling in the Sacristy/Parish Office.

Communion Prayer Books, Cards, Rosary beads and bracelets are available in our Repository Shop. Open after Morning Mass or on request.
