Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

We call Jesus to be our friend in this time of trial and adversity. Jesus is with us. He’s always near. There’s no quarantine or lockdown that can keep Him away from us. We may have a difficult time believing that. – Cardinal Timothy M Dolan.

Reflection on Today’s Gospel
‘I will draw all people to myself’
As we journey through Lent to Holy Week, our Sunday readings draw us deeper into contemplating Jesus fulfilling the new Covenant by his sacrifice and death. In the Gospel Jesus spells out the necessity for the grain of wheat to die. His soul is troubled, but he is One with the Father. Through the cross will come glory. As His disciples we must follow Him and, like Jesus, may we turn to the Father in all our troubles, striving to draw others with us.
Service of the Healing of the Generations
The Service of the Healing of the Generations (Family Tree) will take place next Sunday, 28th March, in our Church, led by Fr Cathal and team, commencing with Holy Mass at 7pm and concluding at 8pm. Access on the webcam.

New Pilgrim Path Website of the Week
Self-awareness is necessary to see differently. In five short reflections entitled “Learning How to See”, Richard Rohr identifies 13 different types of bias which we can possess without knowing it. ‘Confirmation bias’, is one in which “we judge new ideas based on how they fit in with and confirm the only standard we have.” We can exclude anything that “doesn’t fit”. Another bias is ‘complexity bias’ in which “our brains prefer a simple lie to a complex truth”. Another is ‘contact bias’, “a lack of personal and ongoing contact with people who are different from us. We fail to see them for who they truly are”. The reflections conclude with an exercise by Anthony de Mello to expand our self-awareness and to see in a new way. See www.newpilgrimpath.ie.
An Excerpt from Statement from the Irish Bishops
At its Spring General Meeting the Irish Bishops’ Conference decided to embark on a synodal pathway for the Catholic Church in Ireland, leading to the holding of a National Synodal Assembly within the next five years. A number of issues are being considered while endeavouring to discern what the Holy Spirit is saying to Ireland at the moment. We see the next two years as a time of prayer, listening and discernment, involving a nationwide consultative conversation on this theme and will allow individuals, parishes, religious orders, associations, groups, movements and organisations both within the Church and in Irish society at large, to share their insights into the Church in Ireland – past, present and future.

St Patrick
Captured by pirates and enslaved,
Six years a prisoner he fasted and prayed.
Escaped his captors and began his Ministry
To the people of Ireland in the fifth Century.
In his dream he heard the Irish implore
Their hunger for God he did not ignore.
He returned to Ireland with
zeal and determination
To bring the Good News to the Irish Nation.
Travelled the four provinces to teach his new flock
The Mystery of the Trinity with a simple shamrock.
Baptised nobles, druids and pagans
God’s Word echoed over fields and bog lands.
We celebrate his Feast on the seventeenth of March
Ireland’s great Saint and Patriarch
We seek his intercession for Ireland today
From Christ and his ways we don’t drift away
Ordained a Priest he took the name Patricius
Our great Saint that brought Christ’s Message to us
Gave us the prayer ‘St Patrick’s Breastplate’
St Patrick, pray for us, and our Faith rejuvenate.
Paddy O’ Keeffe (bog theologian)
Cardinal Rules for Life Everyone Should Know
Make peace with your past, so it doesn’t spoil your present. Your past does not define your future – your actions and beliefs do.
What others think of you is none of your business. It’s how much you value yourself and how important you think you are.
Time heals almost everything, give time, time. The pain will be less hurting. Scars make us who we are; they explain our life and why we are the way we are. They challenge us and force us to be stronger.
No one is the reason for your own happiness, except you yourself. Waste no time and effort searching for peace and contentment and joy in the world outside.
Don’t compare your life with others’, you have no idea what their journey is all about. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we would grab ours back as fast as we could.
Stop thinking too much, it’s alright not to know all the answers. Sometimes there is no answer, not going to be any answer, never has been an answer. That’s the answer! Just accept it, move on, NEXT!
Smile, you don’t own all the problems in the world. A smile can brighten the darkest day and make life more beautiful. It is a potential curve to turn a life around and set everything straight.
Thought for the Week“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” Jane Goodall. |
