My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Meeting with the Taoiseach on Church Services
Archbishop Dermot Farrell and others met the Taoiseach recently to discuss the current regulations and to express concern about the lack of church services which provide ongoing support to many people. The Taoiseach acknowledged the importance of the church community in people’s lives and that the concerns raised will be considered.
New Pilgrim Path Website of the Week
The website for this week is ‘Forty Days’, a visual meditation based on 40 great works of art. Forty is a significant number in the Bible. Rain fell for 40 days; The Israelites wandered for 40 years; Moses was on Mount Sinai for 40 days; Jonah preached in Nineveh for 40 days: Christ fasted 40 days in the desert; The Ascension took place 40 days after Easter Sunday. This video reminds us that after every significant 40 days, significant transformation occurred. Moses received the 10 Commandments. The Israelites found the Promised Land. Jonah converted Nineveh. Reflection on Today’s Gospel
‘This is my Son, the Beloved.’
Trust in the Lord is the theme that links all this week’s readings. As we continue our Lenten journey, we are reminded of the extent of the Lord’s love and generosity – if we but listen to his voice and place our trust in him.
In the First Reading we see the depth of Abraham’s trust in God as he is asked to sacrifice his beloved son. Abraham’s faithfulness is rewarded with more blessings than he could ever have imagined.
In the Gospel, Jesus asks Peter, James and John to trust him and not speak of the wonder of what they have witnessed on the mountain top. This week we pray for the grace to trust and to listen ever more closely to the voice of the Lord, so that we too might walk in his presence.

In his message, the Pope reflected on the desert, “this natural and symbolic environment, so important in the Bible.” “The desert is the place where God speaks to the heart of the human person, and where the answer to prayer flows, “That is, the desert of solitude, the heart detached from other things and alone in that solitude, opens itself to the Word of God.”
Trocaire Lenten Campaign
This year’s Trocaire Lenten Campaign focuses on exploring the Impact of Conflict on families in South Sudan – the suffering of people who have lost their homes and loved ones to war; how they are rebuilding their lives through love, friendship and solidarity. Donations will go towards Emergency aid such as food, water, sanitation and hygiene items; • Seeds, tools and agricultural training. • Counselling support to help people overcome their trauma. • Promoting peaceful coexistence between the people of South Sudan. The Real Wonders of the World |
Students at a secondary school studied the Seven Wonders of the World. At the end of the lesson, the teacher asked the class to list what they considered as the Seven Wonders of the World. Though there were some disagreements, the most voted wonders were found to be India’s Taj Mahal, Egypt’s great pyramids and the Great Wall of China, St Peter’s Basilica among others.
The class teacher noticed that one student hadn’t submitted her paper yet. She asked her if she was having troubles making the list. The student replied: “Yes, a bit. There are so many that I’m unable to make up my mind.” Hearing this, the surprised teacher asked her to read her list out loud so that the class could help.
Initially the girl hesitated but then went on to read, “I think the seven wonders of the world are – to touch, to taste, to see, to hear, to feel, to laugh and to love!”
The teacher hearing this was really touched and explained the implication of this special list to the class. She said, “The things we overlook as simple and ordinary are often the most wonderful and we don’t have to travel anywhere else to experience them.”

Making Friends on the Buddy Bench |
Walking through my son’s schoolyard, I noticed a bench on the pavement with bright paint around it. I asked my son: “Is that the only place to sit around here?”
He said: “No, that’s the buddy bench. When somebody feels lonely or has nobody to play with they sit there and people ask them to play.” I told him how awesome that was and if he had ever used it.
He said “Yeah, when I was new I sat there and someone came along and asked me to play. I felt happy. And now when I see a kid on it I ask them to play with me. We all do.
What a fabulous idea for a schoolyard.
