Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament takes place from Tuesday to Friday, 11am-3pm each week.
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
Service of the Healing of the Generations (Family Tree)
The Service of the healing of the Generations will take place today Sunday, 29th January, in our Church led by Fr Cathal and team. The service commences with Holy Mass at 7pm and concludes at 8pm.
Feast of St Brigid – Beginning of Spring
We celebrate the beginning of Spring with some lovely Feasts. Wednesday 1st is the Feast of our much-loved St Brigid – Gabhaim molta Bríghde. Ionmhain í le hÉirinn. Ionmhain le gach tír í. Molaimís go léir í! See various videos online re making a Brigid’s cross – children love this! If no reeds available, straws can be used.
Four Seasons Special Collection
The Four Seasons Special collection for Church maintenance is being reintroduced and the next one will be taken up after all Masses next weekend 4th/5th February. You will notice that the external steelwork and the surrounding timber work have been repaired and painted and the gutters have been replaced. However, there are still a number of essential repairs and maintenance items to be done, in particular the heating which needs urgent attention. Your contribution towards the collection will go towards this work and all donations will be very much appreciated – we ask you to be as generous as you can.
Reflection on Sunday’s Readings
How happy are the poor in spirit; theirs is the kingdom of heaven!
Beginning his Sermon on the Mount (Gospel), Jesus teaches the Beatitudes, which focus on the qualities he expects his disciples to have. They are not ‘rules’ like the commandments, more a road map for discipleship, showing the way to follow him. Jesus is showing us what it really means to be ‘glad and rejoice’ – in him alone. The Psalmist sings of the Lord’s faithfulness and kindness, praising God for his care of ‘those who are oppressed’: the hungry, the imprisoned, the blind and the stranger. This week, we pray that we recognise all the blessings the Lord has given us, to allow us to walk more closely with Him in his work, as he walks with us in our lives. We continue to remember those suffering in war and conflict in Ukraine and beyond.
Kilbarrack/Foxfield Tax Claim
We urge anyone paying tax to sign up for this scheme to help raise much-needed funds for our Church. It does not affect your own taxes in any way. As the Church is a charity, we can claim up to 44% of tax back on donations made by those who donate €250 and over through Family Offering, Easter and Christmas Dues, in one tax year. We ask those with forms to return them to the Parish Office immediately. If you wish to discuss this issue, please phone Janice at 01 839 0433.
‘Candlemas Day’ and Feast St Blaise
On Thursday, Feast of the Presentation, candles will be blessed at 7.30pm Mass. Candles will be in the Office during the day and at the back of the Church before Mass for €2. Please put your name on the labels supplied with the candles, leave them to be blessed at Mass -collect and bring home after Mass .
Blessing of Throats with Church candles will take place at 10am Mass on Friday 3rd February the Feast of St. Blaise.
Naomh Barróg Annual Mass
The annual Mass for deceased members of Naomh Barróg will be celebrated next Saturday 4th February at 7.30pm in the clubhouse.

New Pilgrim Path
The Bible mentions trees more than any living thing other than humans. We have valuable lessons to learn from trees, whose magnificence emerges from underground, from seeming immobility and darkness. A frog decided one day that he was going to climb a
tree and reach the very top. All other frogs shouted at
him saying: “It’s impossible, it’s impossible…” But the
frog climbed the tree and reached the top. How?
Because he was deaf and thought that everybody else
was encouraging him to reach his goal. Be deaf to
negative thoughts, if your aim is to reach your goals.
Face the Bad Times Too
Today, remember that the bad times are part of your
journey too. They are part of your story. So own them – never let them own you.
These challenges that you face? You are supposed to
be facing them. You are supposed to come out victorious. This is just another chapter in your book.
Never underestimate the power of your hardships,
they will inspire others, they will create waves that
ripple on for years. They will help others to face their own – and come out fighting.
You see, it’s not just the good chapters of our stories that people will want to read about. We all need a
hero to look up to. Right now, what you’re dealing with makes you somebody’s hero. So put on your cape and get it done girl. Then shout it out from the rooftops that you survived. Your story could be someone’s saving.

I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on the tombstone
from the beginning…to the end.
He noted that first came the date of birth
and spoke the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all.
was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
that they spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved them.
know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own —
the cars…the house…the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.
So, think about this long and hard.
Are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
that can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
to consider what’s true and real,
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
and show appreciation more,
and love the people in our lives
like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
and more often wear a smile,
remembering this special dash
might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy is being read
with your life’s actions to rehash,
would you be proud of the things they say
about how you spent YOUR dash?
