Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Sr Fergal Kenna, MMM. R.I.P.
We are so saddened to hear of the death of our beloved friend Sr Fergal, Medical Missionaries of Mary Community locally, and a member of the Adult Choir and our Parish for many years. She will be remembered always for many reasons – her lovely, friendly personality and for her wonderful sense of humour which enlivened many Parish events. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

Reflection on Today’s Liturgy
‘He put his arms round them and gave them his blessing’
This Sunday we hear about the importance and centrality of loving relationships to the expression of our faith.
The Gospel contrasts two different aspects of human nature. The Pharisees attempt to exert authority and power over Jesus by testing his understanding of aspects of the law. Jesus reminds them that the law was only given to them because they had lost touch with the essential truth of loving relationship at the heart of creation. His response to the Pharisees and subsequent welcoming of little children is a challenge to the patriarchy of the time. Unlike them, Jesus views women and children as equals to men. Let us pray that we will be blessed with the same compassionate spirit of Jesus to build a just society that urgently focuses on restoring our harmony with nature.

“When the human being considers himself the master of the universe and not its responsible steward, he or she justifies any kind of waste and treats the other people and nature as mere objects,” denying “the fundamental right of every person to live with dignity and to develop integrally.” Pope Francis warned against modern consumerism, which has caused so much damage, reiterating his call for a “change of course”.
Vacancies in Sutton and Bayside
A vacancy has arisen in the Coffee Dock in the Parish Centre at St Fintan’s Church, Sutton. The hours are 9.30am to 12.30pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday MONDAY, inclusive, and mainly involves making and serving tea/coffee and snacks to our customers, dealing with money and record-keeping of same. Volunteer with Crosscare
Community Cafés
Practical help is needed to support people in food poverty in the community. Crosscare Community Café is looking for people to help the wonderful kitchen staff behind the scenes as a volunteer kitchen porter 1-2 mornings per week (Mon-Fri 10.30-2.30.)

Praise God for the Wonder of You
This week, take a walk in nature and stop or sit for a moment and contemplate that you are a part of a kingdom much grander and more expansive than you could ever imagine. Ponder the breath, the privilege it is to participate in the daily rhythms of life and praise God for the miracle of your breath. Each day be intentional to set aside a moment and pray and see the world through God’s eyes.

Weekend Challenge: Throw a Party!
The Bible is full of one story after another that shows we have very short memories regarding God’s amazing work in our life. In Exodus, God delivers Israel from a brutal empire, and a few short days later, they are complaining about the food and worshipping other gods. The disciples watch Jesus do all kinds of miracles, yet when they get caught in a storm on the sea, they all begin to panic that their boat will sink.
The Bible demonstrates that it is pretty normal for us to forget about all the great stuff God is doing. It also shows that one of the best ways to remember God’s faithfulness is to celebrate what He has done for us. That’s right, we can remember God’s goodness by throwing a party (within the Covid restrictions, obviously). Over the next week, grab some friends or family, (invite the whole neighbourhood if you want) and commemorate something specific that God has done in your life or in the life of someone you love. Be intentional about finding ways to celebrate God’s love! We promise you will discover that these celebrations bring you joy and strength on your journey and will remind you that you serve a faithful God.
