Special Invitation

We look forward to seeing you all at this joyful occasion next Sunday. Tea/Coffee, Sandwiches and Cakes will be served in the Parish Centre after the Mass.
Four Seasons Collection
Our quarterly collection will take place after all Masses next weekend 12th/13th October. This collection is to raise funds for projects and repair work in our Church.
Our next project is to replace the bathroom in the sacristy and upgrade the sacristies facilities which are experiencing dampness and leaks.
This Sunday could be called ‘Volunteering Sunday’.
At all Masses this weekend, questionnaires are being distributed. The reality nowadays is – Your help is needed! The Church in general has changed from being a clerical Church to a Church of and for the people. In our Parish, as in all parishes, many wonderful volunteers have gone to their eternal reward – so – all aspects of our Church needs new people with ideas, skills, etc. It’s over to you!
Reflection on the Scriptures for this Sunday
The Family of God
Our readings today lead us to consider the importance of several elements in Jesus’s teaching: marriage and commitment, families and children, struggle and compassion.
In the First Reading we hear the story in Genesis of the beginning of humanity: how God made man and woman to find completion in each other, so that they become one body.
The Psalm is a song of praise for the gift of marriage and a happy family life.
The Second Reading, from the letter to the Hebrews, speaks of how completely Jesus took on the human condition, even to the point of enduring a shameful death.
In the Gospel Jesus is being challenged by the Pharisees, who are trying to trap him. While accepting that our frailty can lead to divorce, Jesus insists on the sacred unity of marriage. He then blesses little children, encouraging us to welcome them and to be more childlike in our faith.
This week, may we pray for all families, the happy and the struggling, those separated and those dispersed.
May all find support and friendship in their communities.
Prayer for the Month of October for the Synod
Holy God, You have made us all members of the body of Christ, the people of God, and poured into our hearts the abundant gift of your Spirit. Today, we pray earnestly for all gathered in Rome for the Synod: may your grace go with them and give to all the courage to bring faith, hope and love in abundance to meet the challenges before us.
We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
Dublin Diocese Annual Mass Attendance Survey
The count, this year, will take place on Saturdays/Sundays, October 5th/6th, 12th/13th and 19th/20th.
We are asking for 2 volunteers for each Mass over these weekends to take an approximate count of attendance. One to be stationed at each porch. Please give your name to Janice if you can volunteer. The total count must be filled in on a form provided on the sacristy table following each Mass. We appreciate your help.
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is held Tuesday to Friday, 11am-3pm, each week
New Pilgrim Path: Guardian Angels
Pope Francis spoke about our Guardian angels in a homily: “Our angel is not only with us; he also sees God the Father. He is the daily bridge; from the moment we arise to the moment we go to bed. He accompanies us and is a link between us and God the Father. The angel is the daily to the encounter with the Father: that is, the angel helps me to go forward because he looks upon the Father, and he knows the way. October – The Season of Letting Go
And so, begins the season of letting go, when Mother Nature shows us how it’s done.
Let go, free yourself, shake it off, drop it, give way for the new. Create space for new thoughts, new ideas, new adventures and new connections, by shedding the dead weight you’ve been carrying around, for so long.
And whilst you are there, being reborn and renewed,
let go of old anxieties too. Let go of any doubts, fears or beliefs which no longer serve you well.
Release bitterness or past hurts which feast on your beauty. Be brave, don’t fear the nakedness as your leaves slip away. Mother Nature doesn’t. Watch and learn. Donna Ashworth
What is Luxury
They made us believe that luxury was the rare, the expensive, the exclusive. Everything that seemed unobtainable.
Now we realise that Luxury were those little things we didn’t know how to value when we had them, and now that they’re gone, we miss them so much.
Luxury is being healthy. Luxury is not stepping into a hospital. Luxury is being able to walk along the seashore.
Luxury is going out on the streets and breathing without a mask.
Luxury is meeting with your whole family, all your friends.
Luxury is their looks. Smiles are Luxury. Luxury is hugs and kisses. Luxury is enjoying every sunrise.
Luxury is the privilege of loving and being alive.
All this is Luxury and we didn’t know.
Stay blessed. Stay grateful.
