The Building Hope Prayer
Pilgrim God, we give you thanks and praise. You constantly journey with us even in our darkness and doubts. We seek your way of loving kindness to walk together as one family.
Open our eyes to recognise you in the faces of one another,
in the breaking of bread and in the splendour of creation. May the risen Christ sow seeds of hope and new life deep within us. May our hearts and minds be filled with your Word, bringing forth truth, justice and peace. May the Holy Spirit working in and through us do much more than we can dare to imagine as we live out our baptismal calling in humble and loving service. We make this our prayer through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us. St Laurence O’Toole, pray for us. St Kevin, pray for us. St Brigid, pray for us.
Weekly Reflection on the Scriptures
Contact Sr Phyllis at phyllisrsc@gmail.com with your email address and join us on Zoom any Monday night 7.15-8.30pm to reflect on the liturgy for the following Sunday. It is so rewarding and enhances participation at Mass on the day.
Building Hope Task Force – Parish Meeting
We heard about the Building Hope initiative, about how the Parish and the Archdiocese will plan for the future and the renewal of faith communities, at all Masses late last year. Archbishop Dermot Farrell has now invited each parish, as part of the Building Hope strategy, to reflect on how best to
respond to the pastoral situation in which we find ourselves. As part of this process, a Parish meeting has been arranged in the Parish Centre next Wednesday 25th May at 7.30pm to discuss our response. Everyone is welcome. The aspects for discussion include Faith, Welcome, Servant, Leadership – what works well in our Parish / what needs work and which parishes would it make sense for our parish to be in local partnership, etc.
If attendance at the meeting does not suit you, you can email feedback to: info@kilbarrackfoxfieldparish.ie or, if you prefer, you can complete the Questionnaire and drop it into the Sacristy – there are copies at the back of the church. All feedback will be considered as part of the Parish submission. Further information on Building Hope and copies of the questionnaire are available on the Archdiocese website at: https://dublindiocese.ie/category/building-hope/
Reflection on Sunday’s Readings
‘A peace the world cannot give, this is my gift to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.’
The readings today turn to the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ Farewell to his disciples (Gospel), he says that he is to return to his Father, and tells them not to be afraid or troubled: he will still be with them through the Holy Spirit. Jesus also gives them the gift of his peace. In the First Reading, we see how, despite the differences between members of the early Christian Church, the community was guided by the Holy Spirit to decisions. We pray for peace for all nations, especially for Ukraine, eastern Europe, Yemen, Syria and Palestine, as well as for ourselves. May we pray that we share Christ’s word with those we meet, through our actions.
Service of the Healing of the Generations

Prayer for Ukraine
Holy and Gracious God. We pray for the people of Ukraine and the people of Russia, for their countries and their leaders. We pray for all those who are afraid; that your everlasting arms hold them in this time of great fear.
We pray for all those who have the power over life and death; that they will choose for all people life, and life in all its fullness. We pray for those who choose war; that they will remember that you direct your people to turn our swords into ploughshares and seek for peace. We pray for leaders on the world stage; that they are inspired by the wisdom and courage of Christ. Above all, Lord, today we pray for peace for Ukraine. And we ask this in the name of your blessed Son. Lord have mercy. Amen.

The Strength in Our Scars
No matter what you’re going through, no matter where you are on your healing journey—you are strong. Through poetry, prose and compassionate encouragement, you would expect from someone who knows exactly what you’re working through, Bianca Sparacino is here with the words you need. “The Strength In Our Scars” tackles the gut-wrenching but relatable experiences of moving on, self-love, and ultimately learning to heal. In this book you will find peace, you will find a rock, you will find understanding, and you will find hope.Remember: Whatever is dark within you has also carved light into your soul. Whatever is lost within you has also brought you back home to yourself. Whatever is hurt within you is also healing you in ways you may not understand at that moment in time The Strength In Our Scars” is by Bianca Sparacino.
Stay Where You Are
Stay in the moment. The practice of staying present will heal you. Obsessing about how the future will turn out creates anxiety. Replaying broken scenarios from the past causes anger and sadness. Stay here, in this moment.
Lessons Learned in Life
You’d be surprised by how many times a woman sits in her car, or in the shower, or in the laundry room, or at the sink, and quickly cries because she’s so stressed. Because when she shows her face again, she looks untouched and unbothered, manages to sport a beautiful smile and carries on like she’s fine. Women are some of the most resilient creatures. Appreciate them. Laurie A Watkins
