Summer Dues Collection
This collection for the support of priests will be held throughout the summer months. Your support is greatly appreciated, envelopes are available on the back table of our Church. They are not being delivered to your home. They can be returned to the Parish Office over the summer months.
Dublin Diocese Pilgrimage to Lourdes 5th – 10th Sept. 24
This year the cost of bringing a sick pilgrim estimates around €1200 of which €605 is paid by the Association. Each pilgrim is asked to contribute €595 (if affordable) – no sick pilgrim is ever refused because of inability to pay. To help the Association’s contribution, each parish is asked to hold a Church gate collection. All proceeds go to reducing the cost of the pilgrimage. We will be having our Parish Collection later in the year, possibly in August. Further details to follow. See our notice boards for details.
Charity Tax Refund 2022
Anyone who received a Tax Form for updating in the post, could you return your form at your earliest convenience to the Parish Office, as we wish to process the 2022 Tax Claims. If you have any questions, please contact the Parish Office or if you have mislaid your form, we can provide you with a new one. Thank you to everyone who has returned theirs already. Reflection on the Scriptures for this Sunday
‘This is what the Kingdom of God is like …’
Our readings this week are full of hope and confidence. May we grow in joyful hope as we pray and ponder them. The theme of growth, seeds, and trees are in and out of these readings and the notion of universality: God’s kingdom is for the whole of humanity.
In the First Reading, God, through Ezekiel, promises the tiny remnant of Israel that they will grow into a new people, just as the cedar grows from a small shoot.
The Psalm is a song of thanksgiving to the Lord who enables the just to grow and flourish like a cedar.
St Paul, in the Second Reading, reminds the Corinthians of the confidence they have, despite the tensions of living while waiting for the Lord. This fills them with the expectation of being with him one day.
The Gospel contains two parables of the Kingdom: that of the seed, growing secretly; and the parable of the mustard seed. Both parables reveal God working continuously for the growth of his kingdom.
As we go about our lives this week, we may find other metaphors for the God who works secretly for his kingdom in all those around us, in our surroundings and in all events.
New Pilgrim Path Teresa of Avila and Meditation
It is absurd to think we can enter heaven without first entering our own souls, without getting to know ourselves. How important it is to recognise this truth that the Lord is within us and that we should be there with him! How is it, Lord, that we do not look at your face, when it is so near us? All our trouble comes to us from not having our eyes fixed upon the Divine.
A short video has some gentle and practical advice for meditative prayer, drawn from teachings of St Teresa of Avila. A prolific writer, she sought to demystify the mystical experience and make it accessible. Watch “The Prayer of Quiet” at www.newpilgrimpath.ie

Naomh Barróg – Summer Camps Timetable
Camp A. 1st-5th July 4 – 12-year-olds; Camp B. 8th-12th. 4 – 12-year-olds. Cúl Camps 29th July – 2nd August. 6 – 13 year-olds.
The Sacramental Parish Team is already doing preliminary planning for the 2025 Sacraments. For a number of years, the team has worked closely with the children of Scoil Eoin and North Bay from September to May in preparation for the Sacraments while liaising with the school and religion teacher. To enable this valuable work to continue, we need more volunteers urgently. It is not a big commitment – just 8/9 Masses during the year. Help and support this initiative – sweep outside your houses; pick up litter; no dumping of garden waste; plant and weed street flower boxes. Well done to Madeliene and friends for setting this up.
