The Building Hope Prayer
Pilgrim God, we give you thanks and praise. You constantly journey with us even in our darkness and doubts. We seek your way of loving kindness to walk together as one family.
Open our eyes to recognise you in the faces of one another, in the breaking of bread and in the splendour of creation. May the risen Christ sow seeds of hope and new life deep within us. May our hearts and minds be filled with your Word, bringing forth truth, justice and peace. May the Holy Spirit working in and through us do much more than we can dare to imagine as we live out our baptismal calling in humble and loving service. Reflection on Readings for this Sunday
As we approach the end of the liturgical year, the readings invite us to think about endings: not in a fearful way, but to hope and trust in the God of resurrection and life. The First Reading tells of a valiant mother who, strong in her hope of the resurrection, encourages her faith-filled sons to suffer martyrdom rather than be unfaithful to God. Jesus, answering the sly question posed by the Sadducees (Gospel), shows that they have not even begun to understand the transformation of life that will take place after the resurrection. Heaven is about union with the God who is Lord of life and the living. Paul prays for the grace of strength, comfort and hope for the young Christian community of Thessalonica(Second Reading) and warns them to be alert to ‘the interference of bigoted and evil people’, who would prevent the Lord’s message of love spreading quickly throughout the world. This week, we pray for all innocent people in our own times who suffer imprisonment, torture and death. We also pray that Christ Jesus’s message of love and compassion for the whole of life may spread quickly throughout the world.

Share Appeal Sunday
Next weekend, 12th/13th November, is Share Appeal Sunday which highlights the important work funded by the weekly collection. Archbishop Dermot Farrell writes –

Prayer for Ukraine
Holy and Gracious God. We pray for the people of Ukraine and the people of Russia, for their countries and their leaders. We pray for all those who are afraid; that your everlasting arms hold them in this time of great fear. We pray for all those who have the power over life and death; that they will choose for all people life, and life in all its fullness. We pray for those who choose war; that they will remember that you direct your people to turn our swords into ploughshares and seek for peace. We pray for leaders on the world stage; that they may be inspired by the wisdom and courage of Christ. Above all, Lord, today we pray for peace for Ukraine. And we ask this in the name of your blessed Son. Lord, have mercy. Amen.

Every Wednesday morning, we have a ‘cuppa’ and chat from 10.30am. Volunteers needed to ‘put the kettle on’ etc. – rota system is in place.

Energy Crisis
We ask that all those attending the Church at any time from now on, would make sure that warm clothes are worn for your own comfort and to help the Parish deal with the rising energy costs, while keeping people as comfortable as possible.
