Important
Parents who wish their children to receive the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation must register with the Parish – kbfparish5@gmail.com and send a copy of the baptism certificate. If baptism has not taken place, it must be arranged before 31st October 2024, for those preparing for the sacraments in 2025 – baptisms are celebrated the send Saturday of every month. The Parish Preparation Programme with the children and their families begins in September.
Summer Dues Collection
The Summer Dues collection for the support of priests will be held throughout the summer months. Your support is greatly appreciated. Envelopes are available on the back table and side porch of our Church. They are not being delivered to your home. They can be returned to the Parish Office over the summer months
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament is held Tuesday to Friday, 11am-3pm, each week.
Reflection on the Scriptures for this Sunday
‘My grace is enough for you’
Today’s readings encourage us to place our whole trust in God’s grace, for God’s power is at its strongest even when we are most weak.
In the Gospel, Jesus has left Capernaum, the scene of many ‘mighty deeds,’ and went home where he grew up. Once in Nazareth there is a change of mood – his listeners are impressed by stories about him, but they can’t get over the fact that Jesus is one of their own, another worker, just like each of them, with sawdust in his hair and dirt under his fingernails.
The First Reading hints at the defiant and obstinate spirit of the townsfolk. Perhaps Jesus sees himself as Ezekiel’s ‘Son of man’ when he says in today’s Gospel that a prophet is despised in his own country. As Ezekiel writes, ‘Whether they listen or not, this set of rebels shall know that there is a prophet among them’.
The Second Reading encourages us to rely on God when we struggle. St Paul, faced with failure and his own weakness, clearly heard from God that it was exactly through such weakness that God’s strength would be known.
The antidote to pride, scorn, and contempt is mercy (Psalm), and we receive it when we abandon ourselves to God. Let’s keep our eyes firmly fixed on our Lord, this week, till he shows us his mercy.

Dublin Diocese Pilgrimage to Lourdes 5th – 10th Sept. 24
The cost of bringing a sick pilgrim to Lourdes estimates around €1,200 of which €605 is paid by the Association. Each pilgrim is asked to contribute €595 (if affordable); No sick pilgrim is ever refused because of inability to pay. To help the Association’s contribution, each parish is asked to hold a Church gate collection. All proceeds go to reducing the cost of the pilgrimage. We will be having our Parish Collection soon, possibly in August.

Pope Francis Prayer Intention for July
